| Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop The Tablet PC Edition is a superset of XP Pro, so you'd already have it. No need to reinstall a different version. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Windows MVP / Tablet PC http://thetabletpc.net Expert Zone - http://microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/default.asp "Bob" <bobvogt********.com> wrote in message news:40a01f0f$1@news.microsoft.com... > I'm curious as to whether there's a way to turn a tablet PC back into a > laptop. | Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop It should work, but you would lose all of the pen and Ink features of the Tablet PC operating system if you installed Win XP on a tablet PC. Linda A. | Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop you don't have to turn it into laptop because it already is a laptop + tablet pc in one. i usually turn the screen 180 degrees and it is enough to make a notebook out of my tablet pc , no more actions needed. | Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop I never use the pen and ink but the tablet services slow my machine down. Ideally, I'd like to just turn the ones off I'm not using. Bob "Linda A. | Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop Have you given thought to adding more RAM to the machine? Mine will out-perform my desktop any day, using identical programs (except high-end games) and with everything enabled. The Tablet PCs are really wonderful machines. Perhaps you should investigate the alternative, and use all the capabilities of your Tablet. -- Chris H. I don't believe that putting regular windows xp instead of tablet pc oS (which is "windows xp tablet pc edition") would speed up your computer! -- http://msmobiles.com - aLL about MS Smartphone and other MS powered cellphoneZ. |

| Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop My 2 cents - Since the ink is given the high byte instead of the mouse in a tablet, I see tablet pc OS at times sluggish in responding to my mouse actions. Nevertheless, that is too small a disadvantage to give up tablet pcs. You could install plain vanilla windows xp, but ink etc. won't work .. and hey I'd stay around the latest and keep the ink .. | Re: turning a tablet PC into a laptop I got a tablet for my project, which had to be tablet enabled for certain reasons. Why I like a tablet better than a laptop is because of it's form factor and because it's relatively more natural way of communication, my productivity goes up. Not to mention, I can read e-books from it, and the biggest advantage - my hands don't hurt as I am not typing all day. Even the voice recog. works fairly well, so I see myself talking a lot to my computer. - Sahil Malik Independent Consultant You can reach me thru my blog at - http://www.dotnetjunkies.com/weblog/sahilmalik/ "Blank" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9A9198F5-BC0E-4C2C-98FC-31CEAEBDE707@microsoft.com... > So why do you have a tablet? Why didn't you get a regular laptop instead? would have been way cheaper. |
