Any way to improve print resolution of Windows Journal?

Hi all.

I have tried using both Windows Journal (Win XP Tablet Edition) and OneNote
2007.

The resolution of the print to Windows Journal seems to be better than
OneNote 2007.

However, it is still wanting as printouts are still kinda blur (any
printouts) and diagrams in PDF files are very poor in resolution, even when
the option of printing as an image is selected. (I have tried repairing
Journal and reinstalling the PDF reader - Adobe Reader 8 but to no
improvement.)

I have experimented with selecting different print processors but still the
best result is using JournalPrint, RAW format.

Are there any ways to improve the resolution of "Printing to Windows Journal?"

Thank you.

Best regards,

Ebenezer

Thanks... questions like this turn out to be great learning experiences.

Turns out it's not an issue of the Windows Journal print driver, but,
rather, depends on the output app and the print driver settings at print
time... i.e. I assume that the driver has a "dpi" setting but you can
manually overcome whatever it's set at.

For example, when you are ready to print a pdf, select printer
properties, custom page size and set that to 17" x 22" (a 400% increase)

When you return to the pdf print dialog, note that the printable portion
has shrunk to the center of the page, so select (assuming adobe acrobat)
"fit to printer margins" and print.

Re: Any way to improve print resolution of Windows Journal?

Thank you for replying.

However, when a PDF is printed to Windows Journal and when i compare the
Windows Journal file with the PDF original, the Journal file's resolution is
still not improved. (Both on computer screen and hardcopy printout being
identical.)

(The Windows Journal seems to have a maximum resolution of 300 dpi and the
page selection for Windows Journal is rather limited... max size is 91cm by
91 cm.)

Best Regards,

Ebenezer

I ran the steps in my previous response on a pdf containing graphics and
found a major difference in resolution in the resulting notes files...
one printed with the defaults and one printed as described using the
"custom" setting reset to 17"x22"

I have to believe that one or more steps might have been missed when you
tried them.

Attached is a small (30k) 16 color gif screensnap showing two printouts
to windows journal, top one the default print settings, the lower with
the custom setting... both journal windows have zoom set at 100%.
