| Partition Tablet OS; Turn off Digitizer Folks, 1. CAN one partition the drive in the Tablet PC? Will the old-time partition software allow one to put other OSes on it such as WinCE and others? Failing to recall what I used to use, you might suggest your favorites. 2. Can one turn off the Digitizer (behind the screen) temporarily, if this were to prove necessary to use a pure stylus or even the digit pen as a stylus? The "method behind my madness", as Shakespeare said, is etched below, but for you who recognize my earlier email, skimming will suffice; yet putting these queries in the forefront assures the likelihood of a response. Many thanks, Joe P. S. Why not encourage the whole range of touch-screen, pen-related (whether digital or not) to run on the same machine (call it the XP& XP-Tablet or just the Catholic (universal) Tablet ): then users wth digital pens and non-digital pens will have much more software to enjoy and compare? Probably double or triple or quadruple what is available for the T PC now (TabletPCpost.com shows about 50+ offerings). Especially counting in the WinCE applications (including great ones like Calligrapher and other www.Phatware.com hwr offerings that have not been outdistanced by the TPC offerings in many cases (sometimes have) in contents but yes in high-resolution (non-jagged appearance) AND the plethora of games) and the specialized apps like those on Pencentra and like machines and the greats like Adobe's suites (unsurpassed by Microsoft) and even emulated versions of MAC pen and graphics SW. THE ABUNDANCE OF TOPICS AND FUNCTIONS AND TOOLS WILL IMPRESS ANYONE. WILL COAX MAKERS TO UPGRADE TO THE DIGITAL PEN WORLD. WILL GIVE USERS MANY MORE REASONS (LIKE hundredS) TO "GO TABLET" HOW to do so ? Just partition the Drive! Allow the user to shut down the digitizer and use the XP OS alone or another OS with a stylus as in the Fujitsu P1000 (8") wonder temporarily. Let us all be catholics here (catholic means universal). As far as installing Windows CE, I've never seen anyone install the PPC operating system on a personal computer platform, other than in an emulator. how exactly have you installed the OS for Windows CE on a PC? >2. Only a couple models have the ability to do pressure input as opposed to the active digitizer. So in most cases turning off the digitizer, if attempted, would simply render the pen input unusable. As far as being able to do it, I don't know if simply removing the drivers would work or not, as I've never had a need to attempt this. >The "method behind my madness", as Shakespeare said, is etched below, but >for you who recognize my earlier email, skimming will suffice; yet putting >these queries in the forefront assures the likelihood of a response.
