Cannot insert text through TIP

I am unable to use the first two text entry options of the input
panel: handwriting and character options. Written text appears
normally in the TIP, but it isn't recognized and converted to text,
and isn't inserted into whatever program I am working with. Oddly, the
keyboard entry portion of the TIPl\ works. This problem began about a
week ago.
I'm using a Gateway 2724 tablet pc with winxp/sp2

RE: Cannot insert text through TIP

I have the same problem. In my situation the problem only seems to occur in
Microsoft Office products. If you identify a fix please let me know.

Re: Cannot insert text through TIP

ended up reinstalling the OS, but ran into an issue where upon reboot,
the "NTLDR" file is encrypted! Finally solved that using Partition
Magic to convert my NTFS partition to FAT32.

It it ain't one thing, it's another.....sigh

Re: Cannot insert text through TIP

Gateway Tech support helped me out. If you remove the hotfix KB911071 and
reboot then the problem goes away. After you go to add/remove programs check
the show updates box up at the top and then you'll be able to find and remove
the hotfix.

RE: Cannot insert text through TIP

Open the Control Panel
Open the Add/Remove Programs and check the box that says "show updates".
-after the list has populated-
Find HotFix KB911071 and delete it.

Did that, but did not have that hotfix on my system. So, I reinstalled
the OS and now things work. Still don't know why the TIP went awol.
