| Problems with M200 Hi, I am new to tablet PC and have few problems with M200. 1. Network adapter 802.11g is very unreliable. I was afraid about incompatibilities so took wifi router from Toshiba. Small hint from them is that they do not sell it any more :-). When connection is established, it never drops unless going out of range. But it is difficult to establish it. After login/standby/hibernate/restart it needs few times switch adapter off and on. I was using XP networking and Intel own Pro Set with same problems. It says associated and Not authenticated. Even when connection is established, adaptor does warn with message "Network cable unplugged". Is this problem with Belkin router or with client? Does anyone else have this problem? Setup is WPA-PSK authentication with TKIP encryption. I called Toshiba with "not our problem" result. 2. When using telnet, OS crashes to blue screen. It does not matter if it is M$ telnet or Cygwin telnet. Workaround is not use telnet :-). Luckily all servers I use does have sshd running. 3. It looks like there is no way to blank display when listening radio. Even timed setup of hibernate or standby does not kick in. Even if I switch display off manually, it goes back on in few seconds. Result is that display is on and computer running all night for nothing. Not sure how long it takes to LCD to worn out. I guess I will end up with scripting shutdown utility with delay :-). Any other idea? 4. Some programs does have problems with right click. Menu would show, but immediatelly disappear. Same with pen button. Is it any way to switch right click to behave same way like on not tablet Windows? 5. Zooming utility does work with Internet Explorer, but not quite well. Window could be zoomed, but new window opened would be back of original size. Even just going to same page in same window go back to original size. Zooming it again would make huge character on already open windows. Changing DPI is honored only by some programs. IE would ignore it on pages with fixed fonts like hotmail. I hope SP2 would address that. Is it any way to repair scratches of display? I did let my daughter paint on it and if pen is too inclined, corner around tip makes marks. It does not disturb much, though. Is it normal that Toshiba CD burner would do 10x speed on CD-RW on first burn and then only 2-4 on next burn? Otherwise I am very satisfied with machine. It does more than 4 hours on battery using Remote Desktop with constant use of wifi. Local speed is amazing, too. Stan |

| Re: Problems with M200 Well I don't know much about the other things.. But.. to turn the display OFF and have it not come back on again. If you tried to turn screen off via the Tablet Properties option, the act of your pen retreating from the screen would be a mouse move and well.. turn the screen back on again. ;) A good way of shutting off the screen is to set under Toshiba Power Saver Properties -> Setup Action -> On Close Lid -> Do nothing. Now when you close the lid, your system doesn't stand by or do anythign.. but the screen will be turned off which should be what you want. |
