fujitsu vs gateway

Hello all,

I am looking into purchasing a tablet, and based on price and size (I don't want anything smaller than 12") I've narrowed it down to the gateway convetible and the fujitsu convertable.

I have a desktop replacement dell laptop that I love and am looking for a back up and mostly something to take to meetings on and trips since my dell weighs 9lbs! SO I am not looking for something to replace my dell... I don't need a powerhouse computer, just a decent convertible centrino tablet that's light and has long battery life.

So portability is a big deal for me which is the main thing holding me back from the gateway since the futjitsu weighs half that.

Anyways, I was just looking for any experience with either of these brands, I've never bought anything but dell so I am a little nervous!

Thanks!
Lori

Re: fujitsu vs gateway

As you've seen, the Gateway at 14" is considerably heavier than the Fujitsu.
The advantage is that it has a built-in optical drive.

Both are good choices, but I'm wondering why you've excluded the Toshiba
12.1" M200/205.

Re: fujitsu vs gateway

Simply because I can't afford it :-(

Believe me, that would be my first choice. I wish they made a slightly toned down version of it as far as processor speed, memory and HD since its more computer than I really need for a backup

I guess I just have to think about how important the optical drive is to me and worth the extra weight. Other than that the gateway is perfect for my needs, but then the only reason I am considering a back up to travel with is because of the back pain I get from toting my dell around airports. such a dilemma ;-)

OK, if price is an option, take a look at the Acer 300. I think it's a lot
of tablet for the price. :)
