Poor Tablet PC Retail Marketing Efforts

I wanted to alert Microsoft to an ongoing discussion
pertaining to the poor market saturation of Tablet PCs.
Many users are justifiably concerned - we love our tablets
and want to see them take hold in the general public and
gain widespread support. I believe there is an
undercurrent of fear that, due to lackluster marketing
efforts, tablets will never take off and will slowly fade
into oblivion. The thread is at
http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=11215

I was wondering if anyone at Microsoft is actively
addressing this issue and, if so, whether you might
respond to some of the concerns raised in this thread.
Thanks...

Re: Poor Tablet PC Retail Marketing Efforts

I think you will see more and more tablets being used in the marketplace in
the next year. One issue the general marketplace had with tablets was the
additional cost over a regular notebook (which is slowly falling) and lack
of options. Now that you can get a tablet that really can take the place of
a notebook (i.e. great processors, memory, screens, lower weight) I feel
people are going to take a second look at them. Through in the growing
selection of available software (like OneNote, Franklin Tablet Planner,
Aglix GoBinder, much better support with Office 2003) and there are more and
more reasons for people to purchase tablets.

I can assure you, having just been at the Redmond campus for a week, that
Tablets are big in their plans (unfortunately I cannot go into more details)

RE: Poor Tablet PC Retail Marketing Efforts

I think you are very right. If they had some better marketing efforts this product would gain much more response to the public. I learned about them at this college that I went and visiting, in their store, I was wondering why I have never heard of them before

Re: Poor Tablet PC Retail Marketing Efforts

Tablet PCs were originally marketed towards the vertical market such as
healthcare.

Their popularity is growing and you'll be hearing more and more about them.
Acer has even incorporated the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition in one of their
notebooks. I think it's the beginning of a trend.
