WIFI and the new HP 1100

I currently have a TC 1000 and am considering getting the 1100 from HP.
However, I have a question. Is the WIFI any better on this new tablet
verse the old one? If I sit my TC 1000 next to a MAC Powerbook with
WIFI built in the Powerbook has alot better signal strength.

I was hoping they have improved this.

Re: WIFI and the new HP 1100

In addition to the boost Terri mentioned with the Centrino technology, check
the specific model you're looking into since HP currently is equipped with a
Type III Mini PCI integrated WLAN - 802.11b WLAN.

The optional selection of 802.11a/b or even 802.11g may be available for you
by the time you make the purchase. Of course, if you're in a straight
802.11b setup, paying additional money for the faster technology may not be
worth it for you unless you plan to upgrade overall eventually.

For what it is worth. I have no experience with the first generation HP
Tablet, but I just checked all of the Tablets I have available at the moment
and I am he getting the same signal strength with the TC1100 that I get with
the Fujitsu 4110, the Motion M1300 and the Toshiba 3505.

Re: WIFI and the new HP 1100

Thanks, for the replies. As I said I have a PowerBook (Don't ask!) and
it works som much better. But it does have 802.11g not the 802.11b that
my TC 1000 has. I think I will go ahead and make the purchas as we need
to post a review of the TC 1100 on www.tabletpcminds.com anyway.

The only problem I have now is something none of you can help me with.
When I told my wife what I was thinking about doing she said that's a
great idea, she said she could take the new one and I could have the
older one. MAN!

We will have to see how this plays out!

Thanks again!

Re: WIFI and the new HP 1100

Corey,
Bruce (hubby) is getting a new Mac with part of the tax refund this year.
When I mentioned that it would be really great if he returned the favor by
getting me a new tablet so that he would end up with both a new Mac and a
Tablet, the answer was pretty much "In your dreams".
