Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

I removed the old copy first. It never hurts, and it could stop some
problems from occurring.

Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

No go on the Crossword 1.1. It installed fine but.........I have the Compaq
TC1000 and even after removing the nVidia service nvsrv32.exe from Task
Manager, the Crossord dies after sitting at the "Loading....." screen.
So I will have to probably revert back to Crossword 1.0 .

Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

Thanks for the info about version 1.0.
Can you give a little more detail about what you do with run32.dll in order
to get Crossword 1.1 to work?
Do you remove something from Task Manager or do you take some other actions?
Thanks.

Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

I'd appreciate that information as well. The program launches but when I hit F2 (or File->Download), I receive the error message:

** ! Unable to download the most recent Crossword. Check your internet connection. Make sure your system clock is up to date. Would you like to Exit? **

My Internet connection is working and my system clock is up to date.

Looking forward to a solution!

Thanks,
Chris.

Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

in the taak manager, select rundll32.exe, then click remove. You'll
get a cautionary message. Click Yes.

The rundll32 module coordinates the use of two diplays. It seems that
if you don't use two, the removal is begnign.

Re: New Crossword Puzzle Power Toy Now Available

It might temporarily "fix" the problem, but that really isn't the issue. It
is a program error which needs to be fixed within the Crossword program
itself. I would recommend NOT uninstalling or disabling rundll32.exe. It
is involved in a lot of operations on the system, not just screen
orientation. As a system file (it is in C:\WINDOWS\system32, after all),
the OS will probably replace it as part of the self-preservation anyway, or
you'll start experiencing errors in other areas.
