Tablet-specific Firefox crash

On a Tablet PC using Firefox going to http://www.guardian.co.uk/ leads to
Firefox crashes. Using a non-Tablet PC there is no problem. The problem
occurs with Firefox in either XP or Vista, it does not occur with Internet
Explorer 7, it occurs even if Firefox is in Safe Mode, and Adobe Flash is up
to date.

I filed a Firefox bug report:
http://https//bugzilla.mozilla.org/s....cgi?id=383623
and told the folks at the Guardian but I'm concerned that nothing will get
done because most Firefox people and most tech people at newspaper sites
don't have Tablet PCs.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to motivate the right people to fix this
bug? I once had a similar problem with a Java bug that occurred only on
Tablet PCs, but the folks at Sun owed me a favor and we worked it through,
finding a serious race condition problem that could occur on non-Tablet PCs
as well under certain conditions.

Not a reproducible problem here on two separate tablets one with Vista
one with XP. Both on the latest Firefox release. Guardian Website works
fine - if a little slowly possibly because of the level of graphics and
adverts. On a few pages the advertising servers sometimes time out - but
that also happens with IE.

OTOH your pointer to the bug report does lead somewhere I would have
rather not gone!!

Oops. That should be https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383623.

I hope it works this time, though there are some strange bugs when pasting
hyperlinks into Vista's Windows Mail.

Re: Tablet-specific Firefox crash

Nobody has processed the Tablet-specific Firefox bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383623. Usually someone takes
charge of a bug within hours. This does not inspire confidence in the
Firefox community supporting Tablets properly.

Earlier today I switched back to Internet Explorer, in part because Firefox
has a memory leak problem causing the system to grind to a halt after having
using the browser for a long time. I miss having the Word Find feature of
the Google toolbar - although one can install the Google Toolbar in IE7 you
have to add a third toolbar row since Microsoft won't let you add components
to the first two rows.
