Always opt for higher res screen

This is just an opinion of a long time tablet user. I have used the Toshiba
3500 for probably 4 years or so now and very much like the tablet form
factor. I envisioned this type of technology back in college probably when
Gates and his team were half way through developing it. Anyway, my 3500 had
screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and I used it that way for 4 years. Now, I
have purchased a new Toshiba M400 with 1400 x 1050 resolution and I have to
say, it is sooooo much better this way. I am so glad I opted for the higher
res screen. It was worth EVERY penny. So, my recommendation to those of you
looking at tablets is to get the higher res screen when offered. But, that
is just my $0.02 so take it for what it is worth. Tablets rule!

Re: Always opt for higher res screen

That is good news, as I am right now deciding wether to but the ThinkPad x60
with 1400x1050 screen or the normal 1024x768.

BUT I have som questions for those with the ThinkPad in house already;
- Is the 1400x1050 screen as bright as the smaller ones?
- Any other cons with such screen?
- How is the ThinkPad screens in general? (I returned a Toshiba M700,
because it was to dim. I hate this "tablet"-filter on some tablets, not on
my Acer312).

Regards, Henrik

Re: Always opt for higher res screen

I have an x60 running 1400x1050 and I wouldn't trade it for any other
notebook out there. As mine is pre-release, I'm not sure if there are any
advantages/disadvantages to the released models, but if it's even close to
this, I couldn't recommend it any more highly.

The only improvement I can even think of is a wide screen model.

There is a brightness control that dims the screen when on battery, but you
can adjust it.

As I said earlier in this thread, going to 1024x768 after using this
resolution makes things look like they're at 640x480.

Re: Always opt for higher res screen

Completely agree, my last laptop a Gateway with 1024x768, and my new Toshiba M200 1400x1050 is a vast difference, and I never want to go back to a lower-res machine.
