| For those with gateway tablet pcs.... Have any of you noticed that there is a place on the side of the monitor where the stylus can "magnetically" stick to the screen. Not on the screen but on the black border of the LCD. I've been using that while teaching in class, just to keep the pen at a location where I won't lose it, but I've notice that this side of the screen is less responsive to my pen now. In Microsoft word for example, its harder to get the pen to move the scroll bar in word. And I've also noticed the pen is less responsive in closing out windows by exiting out in the top right corner. THIS IS WHEN THE SCREEN ORIENTATION IS UPSIDE DOWN IN LANDSCAPE. Any of you ever have a problem with the responsiveness of pen being apparent anywhere on your LCD. Any solutions? Thanks in advance. |

| Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... I haven't seen it. I know that most people aren't even aware of the magnetic area there. I remember the first time I saw it, it was quite a surprise. There are a few others who frequent this newsgroup who might have an answer as to whether or not the proximity of the pen to the digitizer (or the magnet that holds it there) is a factor. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Featured Community http://thetabletpc.net Forums - http://forums.mobilepcworld.net Microsoft Windows MVP- Tablet PC "BC" <BC@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7C3A913C-DA73-4813-A1E1-4A5C842DE3CC@microsoft.com... > Have any of you noticed that there is a place on the side of the monitor > where the stylus can "magnetically" stick to the screen. | Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... You cannot see this magnetic area. I was just drawing in Ink Art one day, when I set the pen down on the LCD and it sort of slid to the right side of the screen(the black border), and stuck there. I've used it ever since as it seems to be a convienent place for the pen to sit. |

| Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... Yes, I understand what you said. That's why so few people are familiar with it. It's definitely a convenient place for the pen while in use. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Featured Community http://thetabletpc.net Forums - http://forums.mobilepcworld.net Microsoft Windows MVP- Tablet PC "BC" <BC@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:77F55C82-03D4-4B13-8FEA-E765BF17E425@microsoft.com... > You cannot see this magnetic area. | Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... Well, I'll be....! I had never noticed! TOO cool! Now of coure, since BC seems to be having trouble with the screen, I won't use it or anything till someone figures out whether there's a problem, but still... very nifty! :-) Is there a chance that it's just unintentional on the part of Gateway... Ie. there's just a part in there related to the screen that causes magnetization but wasn't intended for use that way? Because you'd think Gateway would have said something in their various documentation, no? C. | Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... I learned about it from someone at Gateway, so I don't think it was unintentional, although he wasn't one of the engineers. It could have been something unintentional that he happened across, too. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Featured Community http://thetabletpc.net Forums - http://forums.mobilepcworld.net Microsoft Windows MVP- Tablet PC "Carmen Gauvin-O'Donnell" <seegod1@cogeco.ca> wrote in message news:umZrithmHHA.4240@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Well, I'll be....! | Re: For those with gateway tablet pcs.... I chatted with a Gateway Tech Support person. He/she said it was there for that reason. However, I didn't notice the edge of my screen became unresponsive until I started using this magnet everyday for about a 6 week period in my math classroom. I am not saying this is what the problem is. I've heard these tablet screens on gateways can be a pain. Regardless, I still love it. I'm hoping to have a Smartboard in my classroom soon. Talk about something COOL. |
