| M275 and Firewire Ok...i am hoping i am not the only only one but here it goes! I am now beginning to use the FW port. I have an iPod that i connect to the tabletpc and it works great, i also have an external hard drive using FW and it works great connected to the M275. However, when i tried to video capture with both, Microsoft Movie Maker and with Pinnacle 8.0 using a Canon GL1, a Canon Optura Pi, and a Sony Hi8 with iLink (firewire) nothing works. The TabletPC says that it can't see a capturing device....all three cameras are not seen by the M275. Any other FW device is fine. I thought that there must be something wrong with the cameras so i tested them in my G4 with iMovie and they work beautifully...so there is nothing wrong with the DV cameras but i still can't capture in the M275....this was a feature i really wanted in the M275s. FYI, when i called Gateway, they said that because other FW devices worked that it must be my DV cameras so they couldn't help... I hope one of you has solved a similar issue... | RE: M275 and Firewire I haven't tried the software you are trying but not all apps would see the firewire port as a video capture card. It depends on the app. Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 9 is one digital recorder that will take video from the firewire, but I don't know if the M275 is fast enough for it. the Encoder compresses as it captures, and so much data is transmitted through the firewire, that it's very CPU entensive. You should be able to to see if it's possible though. You can download the encoder from the Windows Media site here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia Gil ----- microsoft news wrote: ----- Ok...i am hoping i am not the only only one but here it goes!
