| Having problems with WinXP Tablet Edition and SAMBA shares. I'm not sure if this is a XP Tablet problem or a SAMBA problem, but I figured I'd try here first. Just bought my Portege M205 today, brought it home, and am now having problems getting it to talk to my Samba (v3.0.2a) shares. It can read directories/file trees fine, but when it tries to actually copy/read a file, the process seems to just lock up until a timeout error occurs. The SAMBA logs show a 30 second timeout on the server end. Copying file from one Windows based network share to the tablet seems to work fine, however (so I'm having to use another windows box as a middle man, which is a less than ideal solution). I've never had any version of Windows give me this problem before, and I run a fairly heterogenous environment around the house. Anyone else use a setup like this and happen to have any ideas or tips? |

| Re: Having problems with WinXP Tablet Edition and SAMBA shares. Well, I guess we could say that "Tablet PC is just super-set of Win XP Prof." but in this example doesn't seem so... Knowing Microsoft.... ;-) binarg qDot wrote: > I'm not sure if this is a XP Tablet problem or a SAMBA problem, but I > figured I'd try here first. > > Just bought my Portege M205 today, brought it home, and am now having > problems getting it to talk to my Samba (v3.0.2a) shares. | Re: Having problems with WinXP Tablet Edition and SAMBA shares. I have too high opinion about you, Chris to argue with you... Ironical point was ... well pointed to Microsoft because obviously they are breaking everything along their way as thy go. Yes, I know TabletPC OS is super set of WinXP Prof. but it's behaviour is not exactly the same in some occasions (like start of this thread)... Anyway, I sugest you go and rea their "explanations" about why "some" apps will eventually fail to work after Service Pack 2 for WinXP... Milkin' the cows, aren't we...
