| how to convert drawings from journal to PP, Visio? Is it possible to convert drawings from journal (or OneNote) to Powerpoint or Visio? The drawings can be copied and paste in PP, that's OK. But can they be converted in technical drawings? Perhaps with a third party tool? Thanks in advance. |

| Re: how to convert drawings from journal to PP, Visio? I can not easily answer the first part because I am not familiar with how OneNote stores it's drawings. Most drawing packages store drawings as images rather than objects. Visio can load these images, but treats them as single objects. It can not break it down into it's component shapes. If Onenote/Journal stores the images as components, it may be possible to convert the images into real Visio drawings. So far I have not heard of a 3rd party doing this. (Whenever I get my tablet back I'll look into it. (no promises)) John... | Re: how to convert drawings from journal to PP, Visio? Thorsten, I do not know any way to turn the drawn objects from OneNote into PowerPoint slide objects. To make it easier on myself, I have taken a screen shot of the OneNote page, used that as a background for my slide, then built the objects over top of the drawing. When you have everything in the drawing turned into objects, change the background back to the master background. Another tool I use with OneNote is a special stationery set that I created that has a bunch of the autoshapes I use most on it. I can copy and paste from that stationery page to my notes page and use the shapes instead of drawn objects. If you are interested in doing that, you can find the stationery set on the Zimmerblog at: http://www.wfzimmerman.com/filemgmt/...ile.php?lid=16 (It is on other pages as well, that's just the first one that popped into my head.) -- Kathryn Jacobs, Microsoft PPT MVP If this helped you, please take the time to rate the value of this post: http://rate.affero.net/jacobskl/ Get PowerPoint answers at http://www.powerpointanswers.com Cook anything outdoors with http://www.outdoorcook.com Kathy is a trainer, writer, Girl Scout, and whatever else there is time for I believe life is meant to be lived. | Re: how to convert drawings from journal to PP, Visio? In article <BCB33444-8BB5-4F19-AF5E-E232C4697A81@microsoft.com>, anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com says... > Is it possible to convert drawings from journal (or OneNote) to Powerpoint or Visio? > The drawings can be copied and paste in PP, that's OK. > But can they be converted in technical drawings? > Perhaps with a third party tool? If you save your OneNote or Journal drawing as a regular graphics file such as .TIFF then there are some third party apps that claim to be able to convert them into AutoCAD .DXF files. You can then import that into Visio. I don't know about PowerPoint. It has been a long time since I have used AutoCAD professionally so I don't know what is still available now or how good they are. I do know they were pretty expensive back in the early 90's. With the amount of clean up you would have to do I think it would be more efficient to just import that graphic file into Visio and then use that as a guide while redoing your drawing cleanly. |

| Re: how to convert drawings from journal to PP, Visio? The DXF will get you part of the way there. What appears as a box in AutoCad or Visio may be converted as four seperate lines. Within Visio, these lines can be joined into boxes. The resulting Visio drawing will not contain connection points and may require a significant amount of cleanup. For PowerPoint, it may not be a big issue if you only need to display the image rather than manipulate it. Kathyrn's suggestion sounds interesting, but until Purolator gets their act together, I can not try out her suggestion. John...
