PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER

I have a Motion M1300 Tablet PC and it recently came back from having the motherboard changed out from a PIIIM 800mhz to a Centrino 900mhz. Since it came back, every time I put a memory card in the PCMCIA slot it displays a message saying PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER. I have tried uninstalling the PCMCIA bus (O2MICRO OZ6912 CARDBUS CONTROLLER), then re-booting so it re-installs - but still no happiness. I even tried loading a generic driver for the PCMCIA card, but all this achieved was locking up the PC.

The PCMCIA cards work 100% OK in all other PCs I have.

Anyone have any ideas / suggestions? I'm completely at a loss as to a fix.

Thanks to all

Have you contacted Motion Computing support? They're very good at
responding to issues like this.

Re: PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER

If something Motion changed created the problem, then you might tell them
that you need the slot working, and ask for a supervisor.

I've found Motion to be very accomodating in trying to track problems. I'm
surprised they didn't ask for the unit to be returned so that they can do
more testing on it to avoid the same problem in the future.

Re: PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER

You know, if only it was that easy! It's a long story but in brief I sent my Motion off originally just for the BIOS to be re-flashed..... A simple enough fix I figured.

When it came back, it had:

1. A different motherboard
2. 256mb LESS RAM than I started with
3. Scratches on the casing
4. A non-functional PCMCIA slot

Of course, I am VERY eager to send it back again and wait and see what I get this time - maybe something completely different. I have spent several hours on the phone to Motion about this. I am awaiting the rest of my RAM as I speak, as for the PCMCIA - maybe you can understand why I'm not so keen to lose the thing again (costing me even more down time).

JC, I have some information for you. Would you please send me an email with
your current email address where someone from Motion can follow up on this
directly with you?

Please hit "Reply" to this message or send it to support at thetabletpc dot
