| XP Login Window: Possible to launch the Windows onscreen keyboard Hello all, The issue: I have a machine setup with no keyboard or mouse that utilizes a touchscreen monitor. I still want to use the standard windows user login authentication prompt (Login name and Password). I know that within windows, you have the ability to get the windows onscreen keyboard to open by pressing the 'windows' button on the keyboard concurrently with the letter 'U'. But the problem in my case is that I do not have a keyboard option. Does anyone know if it is possible to start the window onscreen keyboard at start up with the standard Windows login page? Thanks in advance, Wayne Tam |

As your question is not about Tablet PCs (which have their own solution) it is better directed towards a general Windows XP newsgroup. |

| Re: XP Login Window: Possible to launch the Windows onscreen keyboard On a related note, it would be nice if the Tablet keyboard didn't broadcast your password when logging in. | Re: XP Login Window: Possible to launch the Windows onscreen keyboard It doesn't broadcast the password, Brian. If you have someone so close at logon they can see you tap the keys, then you've probably already given away your system. -- Chris H. | Re: XP Login Window: Possible to launch the Windows onscreen keyboard Fisrt, it's not the tapping of the keys on the screen w/ the stylus that I am referring to. Nor, is it someone watching my keyboard while I type. I have a convertible and when I have it in laptop config with the screen upright and type my password on the real keyboard the TIP indicates what keys are pressed. A classmate of mine noticed it the other day from 3 rows back in the classroom and asked me what kind of security that was. He correctly told me my password simply from watching the TIP keys light up on the screen as I typed. I call that broadcasting. | Re: XP Login Window: Possible to launch the Windows onscreen keyboard Okay, I understand. The new Tablet Input Panel in the 2004 superset update due mid-year takes care of the issue. -- Chris H.
