| Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Hi all, My pen will write when not touching the screen SOMETIMES. Is very odd, when it happens the pen could be up to 1/2" away from the screen and still write. This is a big problem because this can cause windows to resize, buttons to press that you dont want, recognition to not work, etc. The tablet is now a year-old and there-fore out of warranty. But this has been happening since about 1-month after purchase. Local support (Hong Kong) wont help. Has anyone seen this? Anyone know what to do about it? Thanks in advance.. -BB |

| Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Most tablets are setup so that you do not need to actually touch the screen to write. Rather than having a touch sensitive screen the screen use a magnetic technology to read where the pen is. I do not think this is a hardware defect or system bug. My M200 will read my pen from about 3/4" away. -- Gary A. | Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 It acts as though the But does it actually write ink if you are not pressing the point of the pen to the screen? .. Mine is doing this ... SPORADICALLY! I realize it is magnetic. Hence the problem. It is not just reading from the pen when away from the screen, but acts as if it were touching the screen .. SOMETIMES. I just re-installed the windows from the system restore CDs provided by compaq. The problem is still happening .. sporadically. Thanks for your thoughts.. -BB On Thu, 26 Feb 2004 07:59:49 -0500, "Gary A. | Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Did you change the battery in the stylus? | Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Ya tried that .. and a different pen .. and getting support .. Local support in Hong Kong really sucks ... All energy is devoted into looking for reasons to not provide support. Do you think it could be the screen itself? .. this is driving me nuts.. thanks -BB "Chris De Herrera" <chris@cewindows.net> wrote in message news:%23gXp4QO$DHA.1844@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > Did you change the battery in the stylus? | Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Could be. It may be that the digitizer works better in some areas (hence the reading at different distances) or that the entire thing fades in and out. It seems that you have checked everything else. -- Gary A. | Re: Screen problem on Compaq T1000 Brian, Unfirtunately this is a common problem with TC1000 pens. Quite a few people have written in the past to this group to say that they have just called HP and been given a new pen free of charge. As you are out of warranty, you may have to buy yourself a new pen - about $50, I think. I have the same problem with mine, but I've never got around to doing anything about it. I find that it is worst when the pen has been getting wrm inside its pen holder. I also find that a few judicious tabs of the nib against the side of the screnn halp to solve the problem temporarily.
