Problem with recovery CD I have Gateway CX210X tablet PC. My recovery CD does not work. Actually it works in my friend's laptop, but not in mine. So I have "Windows XP Tablet PC Edition KEY" but I don't have Installation CD. How can I get the Windows XP tablet PC edition CD? I hope you understand my question.

Re: Problem with recovery CD If you don't have the proper recovery media, and can't create it through the operating system (usually Gateway has a mechanism to do so) you need to contact Gateway for replacement media. -- Chris H. In this case anhywhere you can find the OS Disk will work (MSDN, etc.) - just be sure to use your legal key. No doubt you will have the need for custom drivers from the gateway site - validate that they are available before the attempt. If not, do as Chris H. says and contact the manufacturer for Recovery Media. (And this is very good advice, definitely the least painful and complete, but not absolutely required if the optional drivers are available as downloads, etc.) Then, after you install the OS, you get to play the service pack game. ;)

Re: Problem with recovery CD This isn't quite right. An XP product key is tied to a specific type of media. In other words, an MSDN copy requires an MSDN key, an OEM number requires an OEM disk and a retail key will only work with retail media. There may be some exceptions, but it's true as far as I've seen since release. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Featured Community http://thetabletpc.net Forums - http://forums.mobilepcworld.net Microsoft Windows MVP- Tablet PC "xTenn" <xTennREMOVETHISPART@tds.net> wrote in message news:%23VhnSX0hHHA.208@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > tasomaniac******.com wrote: >> I have Gateway CX210X tablet PC. Actually I would have to agree with you for MSDN 2004 forward. Prior to that I believe the keys were not unique between product families, IIRC. IF that is not the case I may learn something here.
