| Re: Internet connection is lost after ethernet cable has been disconnected than reconnected I have run into this problem before. What you need is an applciation that will allow you to run both adapters at once. The applcaition is called IP on the FLY. It is designed to toggle between your wiress card and lan card based on your lan connectivity. So if you lan card has a network connection IP on the Fly will disable your wireless card eliminating any conflicts and once the lan connection is dropped the wireless is re-enabled. If a coll product and I use it on all my laptops were I have a wiress and lan Nic. You can find IP on the Fly @ www.orbitblue.com Adam Brand - TechAngels (adam at nospam techangels dot us) wrote in message news:<em8Bc8$7DHA.1672@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl>... > You can also make a shortcut way of doing this?right-click on the start button, go to Customize, Advanced, and under Start Menu Items choose Display as Connect to under the Network Connections. The 1394 is a third networking device, and unless required to use it, just disable it in Device Manager. > > The reason you're not connecting anywhere, even though traffic is being seen, is you are bridged (Bridge-MAC Bridge Miniport). Simply right-click that device in Network Connections and select Disable. Restart the machine (although it may kick the network in automatically) and you should be good to go. > > When you go into a wireless environment, go into Network Connections, right-click the connection you've been using with the Ethernet NIC and select Disable. When I look at the LAN status it says I am connected at 100Mbps and that it has sent and received packets. It is not showing any bridged connections on the Tablet in Network Connections, when I look at my Desktop Network Connections I see a Bridge-MAC Bridge Miniport. > > > > I'm not sure I know what I am supposed to disable and when I should > disable then re-enable it. Should I disable the wireless before I connect to the ethernet. Do I then disable the ethernet before I connect to the wireless. I haven't as yet tried a wireless connection. My brother-in-law said he has had to renew my IP address to get the ethernet connection working again. I've read bits and pieces about static IP addresses, is that what I need for my ethernet connection? > > > > Thanks for your help :) > > Pam > > > > ----- Chris H. wrote: ----- > > > > Disable it, Pam, in Network Connections.
