| Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers The Writing Panel, when I handwrite or push the button for numbers, the numbers come up symbols and letters, quite regularly. Zero gives me b, one gives me n, two = m, etc., very regularly. The Character Panel does the same, and the onscreen keyboard does not. That reliably enters what I want. To specify, when I draw a two in the character pad or the writing pad, it shows that it will enter the correct number when I press insert, but it inserts these letters, and one of them is a slash, an enparenthasis, etc. I'm using a UMPC Samsung Q1, and when I connect the external keyboard, everything works fine on it, and in fact if I hold down the control key and use the TABTIP to enter numbers, it works perfectly. Any guesses? Any suggestions? |

| RE: Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers I'll add that I'm getting faulty and incomplete entry from both the writing pad and the character pad. It's happened for a few weeks, but I just sat down and started to see the pattern, and my experience with this computer is that it doesn't save restore points that old. It would take about four days to reinstall the operating system and all the programs I've installed on this, so I'd rather avoid doing that. I tried using the Samsung driver disk to reinstall what it labels special tablet drivers and software (or something to that effect) and it did not help. Once again, any suggestions short of reinstalling the whole shebang? |

| Re: Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers You don't want to hear it Steve but I'd bite the bullet and reinstall the OS, It sounds like a DLL is corrupt. | RE: Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers It sounds like you are seeing the control character or hex representation for the character entered. /b would be a space /n would be a new line. /0x030 would be the number 0 etc. Check character set that the display or software is using . | RE: Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers Thanks, viper. It's so regular that I was thinking it must be something like that, but how do I do that? The wrong characters are always the same ones for what I'm hitting. Will this be obvious somewhere? I haven't found it yet. | Re: Tablet Input Panel giving wrong characters for numbers Reinstalling the software will most likely fix the problem, but I have to disagree with James on this one. If a DLL were corrupt you'd be getting crashes and such. I'm going to point the finger at regional and language settings. Try creating a new user account and see if the problems exist on that one. -- Josh Einstein (Tablet PC MVP) Einstein Technologies Tablet Enhancements for Outlook - Try it free: www.tabletoutlook.com "bluespapa" <bluespapa@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2C33B87B-E7E9-4067-A4B9-E5A8D524A435@microsoft.com... > James, > > Thanks to you and Marc, I'm running Snagit, Clipmate, Anagram, Onfolio, > OneNote and the whole '07 suite, ResultsManager, GyronQ, Copernic, > Ritepen, > PDFAnnotator, some Free Software of the Moment killer apps like Folder > Marker, RocketDock, URotate, SyncBack, my Stowaway keyboard & mouse; > thanks > to the Buzz, I'm running Agilix GoBinder; thanks to Trevor, MindManager; > thanks to Tracy, TEO 3.0 and PrimoPDF; Thanks to Buzz, ActiveWords; thanks > to > Palm being behind the curve on Outlook '07, Keysuite; my ancient Palm > student > tracking and grading program with an ancient desktop version; Firefox and > about a dozen plug-ins, IE7 and about a dozen plug-ins, Encarta, widgets, > and > James & Kevin approved settings to make the scrollbars wider (the best > windows advice yet), and ten or fifteen other settings, software, and > such, > and YOU THINK I'M GOING TO REINSTALL THE OS??? > > James!
