| How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? I have the Comaq Tablet Tc1100. The problem is I cannot manage to set up the tablet as a seconday screen when I have attached a separate monitor. In Display Properties - Settings the tablet is set to default "use this device as the primary monitor". I cannot change this. Any ideas? |

| Re: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? Anders, Ran into this problem at a tech expo on Sunday. Was not able to find anyway to make the internal secondary and the external primary. Now, I have a further problem. Since adding the external display, I haven't been able to get rid of it! | Re: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? I heard that this is a TabletPC OS issue. The OS expects the primary display to be used with a digitize, hence the inability to swap the base unit to secondary role. You may want to try UltraMon to manage this (free to try): http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/ I have an M1300 and use an external display, and this has helped considerable to make the process easy. | RE: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? I don't have the exact answer you are looking for, however, I run the two monitors with a docking station on a Compaq TC1000 and have my apps set to start on monitor 2. Once set up, I went the nVidia Desktpp Manager in the control panel and saved my settings. When ever I am on the docking station, my primary apps come up on Monitor 2. I keep the Journal open on the tablet for notes. Hope this helps you. ----- Anders wrote: ----- I have the Comaq Tablet Tc1100. | Re: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? Oh, my, is that a dandy piece of software. I love it and so does my wife. We both have multiple monitors and it has provided some of the best enhancemnts around. It will certainly help in one situation that I ranted about at one time. You have the tablet set up with a large external, second monitor. You work on a presentation looking at monitor two and close Powerpoint. You grab your tablet and head to the meeting. You fire up Powerpoint and it opens where?, on the phantom second monitor where it is very hard see or to grab and move. With Ultramon you just right click on the Powerpoint button on the taskbar and click move to monitor 1. That alone is worth the price. -- Sven, MS-MVP Mobile Devices "Kenny Schiff" <kms0627********.com> wrote in message news:8xRYb.7472$kj.4260911@news4.srv.hcvlny.cv.net ... > I heard that this is a TabletPC OS issue. | Re: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? I do have a personal experience caution. The program has the ability to create profiles, sets of monitor settings, on/off, sizes, etc. I thought it would be cool to set up a docked profile wit two monitors, and an undocked profile, disabling the external. I had my Motion Tablet docked and pulled it. I opened an app that I knew was on the second screen, and switched to the Undocked profile. Sure enough, the app moved to the only remaining display, the tablet. Then I docked, selected the docked profile expecting the external screen to come on, but No, it didn't. Hmm. Went to properties and the two screens were there, but nothing I did would bring the second monitor on-line. Tried lots of stuff. Finally went to the Intel Graphics Manager and was able to bring the external monitor back using that. Not sure if it is a problem with the way the program interacts with the Motion's Video display unit, or maybe the Intel software, but I was nervous for a bit there. Moving apps from monitor to monitor works great though, and the program is worth it to me for that. The different wallpaper on each monitor works fine, as do other features I've played with.. I'm a bit hesitant about the profiles thing though. -- Sven, MS-MVP Mobile Devices "Sven, MVP-Mobile Devices" <sejohannsen********.com> wrote in message news:%23z5rWNV%23DHA.3648@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > I had been using the extended desktop power tool, and just dragging the > phantom window back onto the tablet. | RE: How do I set the tablet as secondary screen? Thanx for all the hints people! Unfortunately none is perfect. Maybe there can be hope for a better functionality in future releases of the tablet-OS, (not disabeling the option to set tablet as secondary...) Anders |
