Maddening issue: trying to customize buttons to activate text-to-speech narrator. (Want combo that will read text file to me.) Have read Help repeatedly. Have set buttons and it appears to take, yet does not work. Always get popup massage saying I have activated the function button. (yeah...) But I get no function. Tried not using function key in combo-- still no go. Up-down-right-left on main button are also messed up in portrait mode, even thro' I chose primary portrait when setting buttons. (They work in browser as expected for scrolling but refuse to be part of keyboard combo.) Input panel shows keyboard combo lit up but "stuck on." Cannot get them "off" except by pressing same function key combo again for toggle-effect. Back to square one. Aaarrgghh! Hardware is Gateway Motion 1200. Contacted Gateway in case it was a button problem-- they were unusually not helpful. Not like them at all, from past experience.
