Wireless pci card for Vista?

Are there any wireless pci cards compatible with Vista? I know there are a
few USB adapters for Vista but I'd like to keep everything in the box.

Thanks,
Brett

Anything that uses the Realtek RTL8187 chipset will work fine.

Oops. I meant the RTL8185 chipset, which is the PCI version. Realtek are
being pretty good with Vista driver updates, and they supply the chipsets
for many peripherals.

Seems like they only sell USB.

And you use it with Vista? Linksys doesn't mention it being Vista
compatible:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...&ssbinary=true

"Compatible with Windows 98SE, Millennium, 2000, and XP"

Re: Wireless pci card for Vista?

Brett:
I have three Windows x64 computers running wireless PCI cards, on
all three computers the wireless cards function normally.
http://ralink.rapla.net/ has a listing by manufacturer for the Ralink
chipsets. Also the Broadcom chipset is Vista compatible. I have a Zonet and
Hawking PCI card with the Ralink RT2500 chipset and a Belkin PCI card with a
Broadcom chipset.

Re: Wireless pci card for Vista?

I bought a Linksys WMP54G, setup it up and connected with no problems.

Still can't see other machines on the network in the Network section of
Windows Explorer but that another issue posted in the network group.

Thanks,
Brett

Re: Wireless pci card for Vista?

If I may butt in........you gentlemen seem to have some idea of what is going
on in the world of Vista, so perhaps I could ask what you suggest for my new
laptop. I have Vista Home Basic on it and cannot find an internet adapter to
set it up with. I bought the WPC54G, as instructed by the Fry's rep, but
still not compatible. Any ideas? Will the WMP54G work for me? Thanks for
any instruction you can give. I am a complete layperson when it comes to the
inner workings of the computer.

It will be compatible. This hasn't really got anything to do with Vista
itself, but you may need to configure your network settings in Vista and in
the router. You should ask for help in a networking group.
