It's not a problem with Vista, but with the Nero MSI package. When a minimal install is done, it part installs the codecs, which causes the errors you're seeing when the Nero trying to thumbnail video clips. Ahead need to fix the MSI. You can get DirectShow filter manager here: http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm |

| Re: COM Surrogate has stopped working I was able to get the program to show the complete list of codecs. Then double clicked the codec for NERO that was 0x0600000 and tried to change the 6 to 2. It would not work. I have the block checked ok for it always to do that. | Re: COM Surrogate has stopped working Finally got rid of it all. It kept coming every time I clicked on an AVI file, even after I uninstalled Nero. Then I read that there was a Clean Nero file available from Nero that will ultimately really clean ALL the Nero stuff on the HD and the registry that otherwise would be left. I downloaded it, ran it (it took quite a while to finish) and whammo, NO MORE POPUPS of the above. -- gidlp ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gidlp's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=27749 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=635824 http://forums.techarena.in |

I saw this yesterday for the first time while trying to see the properties of a folder in Windows Explorer. "gidlp" wrote: > > Finally got rid of it all. Due to malfunctioning/non functioning of COM SURROGATE, the link U click is not responding.
