IE7 in Vista RTM 32bit

When I launch IE7 and successfully connect to a webpage, I cannot open a link
to a movie (either mpg or wmv or others) and play or save the movie like I
could in XP.
I get a message that says 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'.
I've tried just about every setting I could think of in IE7 including
turning Protected Mode off.
I've tried running IE7 as Administrator with no luck....movies that are
links on pages will not play....just the message as noted above.
I did load Mozilla Firefox 2.0 in my Vista RTM, and the movies play fine.

I'm running IE7 in XP also, and it works fine.
Any help would be appreciated. tkrk

P.S. The Only Way To Re-Install Internet Explorer 7.0, Windows Media Player
11.0 and Windows Defender 1.0 in Windows Vista RTM is to Re-install Windows
Vista RTM, Just FYI.

You cannot download and install Media player or IE7 for Vista.

The Windows Media Player that's included in Vista RTM which is WMP version
11.
All of my movies play fine outside of IE7. It's only when I link to a
movie from inside of IE7 that I get the message 'Internet Explorer cannot
display the webpage'. tkrk

Have you checked to see if there are updates to WMP11 or installed
another media player just to test with?

Nina DiBoy,

What other media player would you recommend? As I've stated, WMP11 plays
movies fine from inside Firefox 2.0 and also by itself when I'm not browsing.
I tried to update WMP11 but it's the latest version. Thanks for the
suggestions....tkrk

Re: IE7 in Vista RTM 32bit

You have to remove VLC player, that fixed my problem.

Look in to that registry setting, that's where I saw the VLC settings
as well and I removed it. IF you see other software name in those
registry fields uninstall those software....

Re: IE7 in Vista RTM 32bit

What is VLC Player? I never installed that, unless it's part of Vista. I'm
having the same problem with "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage"
and wmp11 links. Anyone successfully fix this problem yet?
