| Re: Nomore Hotmail or web based email allowed in Windows Mail Hi, No, Windows Mail doesn't support the http protocol. If your mail server supports POP3, IMAP, or SMTP then you can use these protocols, otherwise you cannot use web-based mail. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Robert James" <xpindia******.com> wrote in message news:%23raxQSYEHHA.992@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Was trying to configure my hotmail account in windows mail and it came up > with this notice. > No more Hotmail or web based email allowed in Windows Mail. :( > > Any way arround it ? > > -- > www.xpindia.com |

| Re: Nomore Hotmail or web based email allowed in Windows Mail Cute, it uses a redirect that pulls the web-based mail and then supplies it to OE/WM using POP3/SMTP protocols under a local server address. | Re: Nomore Hotmail or web based email allowed in Windows Mail From what I can see, it pulls the http mail to the local system with the local user's web logon, then sets up a redirect where OE/WM uses the POP3 protocol to access the local IP address (127.0.0.1) to access and download it. It then uses STMP to reverse the process when sending mail. Basically, it serves as a redirect that supports/creates an interface between the protocols used by OE/WM and the webmail. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Synapse Syndrome" <synapse@NOSPAMgomez404.elitemail.org> wrote in message news:OPhlH1YEHHA.4404@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > "Rick Rogers" <rick@mvps.org> wrote in message > news:uNQqowYEHHA.3188@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> Cute, it uses a redirect that pulls the web-based mail and then supplies >> it to OE/WM using POP3/SMTP protocols under a local server address.
