Vista x64 RTM & nVidia GeForce graphics cards

Hi,

Have just installed Vista x64 Business onto a machine with an nVidia GeForce
6800 graphics card, and can confirm that the major bug with Microsoft's
drivers still exists, namely the BSOD which references nvlddmkm.sys.

nVidia don't seem to have RTM drivers available, so I'll try with the latest
they have which is RC1:

Re: Vista x64 RTM & nVidia GeForce graphics cards

I had a BSOD after switching primary monitors in a dual monitor
configuration just after installation of build 6000 but the change in
setting took on reboot and I have not had other issues. This same thing
happened with RC1 and RC2. I assumed it was the nVidia driver too. I use
the 6800GT card.

Mark, the RC2 driver Version: 96.85 is available at
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_96.85.html
Probably best to get the drivers directly from nVidia

I'm still getting it occasionally with the native RC1 drivers, but not
nearly as often as with the Microsoft RTM drivers.

I can only assume that nVidia are working on an RTM update - nothing on
their site, though...

Re: Vista x64 RTM & nVidia GeForce graphics cards

I wouldn't use the RC2 driver in rtm. I would use the rtm supplied driver
and wait for nVidia to finish.

Don't have any choice - the RTM supplied driver BSODs constantly...

Thanks - I'll give them a try. Slightly suspicious that these aren't
available on the nVidia site, though...

In fact, they are the same drivers as found in the 96.85 bundle on the
nVidia site...

Re: Vista x64 RTM & nVidia GeForce graphics cards

I have Vista x64 RTM installed using Nvidia 96.85 drivers... And I am still
getting the BSOD referencing nvlddmkm.sys... It happens almost all the times
the computer sleeps and tries to wake up.

Re: Vista x64 RTM & nVidia GeForce graphics cards

There's also a set of 97.27 and 97.34 for both x86 and x64 at Guru3D.
Improved performance and a couple of options in the control panel.

Do you also get the annoying screen corruption i.e. streaky white lines
across the bottom third...?
