MSN Messenger wont login -> 81000306

Hi everybody...

I've got a question for you al...
I'have already contacted msn messenger but they say that i've got to ask it
in the vista forum.. dont ask me wy ;/

But i will try to explain what my problem is, hopefully there is someone
that can help me :)

For the start i will give you some information on what i'm running :

Windows : Windows vista x64
Internet Explorer browser : V 7.0.6000.16386 (ssl 2.0 en 3.0 are turned on!)
MSN Messenger version : V 8.1
Firewall : Windows Vista firewall! (no zone-alarm orso!)
Antivirus : Avast, but before I installed Avast msn wasn't working also
ISP : Orange (NL)
Type : ADSL 6.1mbit down / 0.78mbit up
No extra addons for msn.

I've got a dualboot on this PC with windows xp, and msn messenger just is
running fine on that installation.

But with the messenger on windows vista I just cant login! I get the
following error code : 81000306

And YES I used the search button, but nothing is relevant to my case :
My thinking :

I DONT have got zone-alarm, so that cant be the problem..

This is not the first time that i'm having troubles with windows vista + msn
messenger... I did had the same problem on Beta 1, beta 2, rc1 and rc2!

And I alo searched the forums on this error.. The other result that i found
was with people that are using a netgear router.. but I'm not using that
router..
But i think that maybe my own router (Sitecom WL109) is the problem in this
case. But the router is already updatet to the latest firmware that is
avaible.

So far for my thinking...

For the people that want to see it, here is the msn messenger connection log :

-------- SEE NEXT POST --------------

What do you people think :)

Thanx!

Re: MSN Messenger wont login -> 81000306

Hi,

Courtesy of David McGown (Re: Vista RTM + Windows Live Messenger - ERROR
81000306, Tuesday, November 21, 2006 ):
-------

I found the procedure below in another group, and it solved my problem with
Vista and Live Messenger. Apparently Vista's "auto-tuning" networking
feature doesn't play nice with some routers. Not sure if it is a bug in
Vista, a bug in Messenger or a bug in the router firmware but anyway this
looks like a possible workaround that might help other people who have the
same problem.

Try this:
- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer

------------------

Hope this helps.

Re: MSN Messenger wont login -> 81000306

Check your system clock.

By default, in a clean install, Vista screws with your time if you adjust
your timezone.

IF your clock is not right, no MSN services will let you sign in.
