Where are these things?

Ok ... this use to be so easy to find and, I can find these things when I do
a search, but the search results don't tell me where to find them.

How do I get to the command prompt?
Where is notepad?
Where is "run"?

Sorry for the simple questions, but I just can't find these things.

Re: Where are these things?

Thanks Graham ... I feel embarassed now. I knew it would be simple.

Should "notepad" be under accessories as well? I don't see it. If it's as
simple ... I'm gonna cry!!!! :(

Re: Where are these things?

Open accessories again. It is near the top of the list. If not, then I think
there is something wrong.
I have both notepad and WordPad in my list.

Re: Where are these things?

Type cmd in the search bar off at the bottom of the Start Orb. Or... Go to
All Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt. Or... do the aforementioned but
right click and drag the Command Prompt icon to the desktop and select
"Create shortcut here."

type notepad in the search bar off the bottom of the Start Orb. Or... go to
All Programs... as above...

The search bar replaces the functionaliy of the run window, but if you're
addicted to the run window, you can either hit WinKey-R to bring it up or
you can right click on the Start orb, click on Properties, on the Start Menu
tab, click on Customize..., scroll down near the bottom and check the Run
Command check box and, voila! you will have the Run command available from
the Start Orb.

Re: Where are these things?

The easiest solution for finding Notepad and other programs is to click the
Start button and then (with the insertion point in the Start Search box)
type notepad. Vista filters the indexed contents of your computer and
displays the results on the Start menu.

winkey+R (press together) = run command.
tap in 'notepad', or 'cmd' to run.

also, another way to find programs on the start menu is to press winkey,
and then just type what ur looking for.

Re: Where are these things?

Hi,

Yep, and once you see it listed, right click it and choose "pin to start
menu" and you won't have to go searching for it again.

Re: Where are these things?

Wordpad is there ... saw it the first time, but not notepad. Notepad shows
up with a search, but would have like to have been able to find it.
Something might be wrong ... hard to say with a beta, of course. I'm gonna
give RC1 a shot and see how she flies.
Thanks.
