I didn't btw see anyone talking about MSDN and Technet and Volume license subscribers who are paying throug the nose for heavily promoted limited value--always have been and always will be. People understand those folks pay and if any of them join to get a beta they are stupid beyond belief in contrast to what one would normally hope an MSDN or Technet subscriber would be. It's not my experience at all in attending any of those meetings that those people aren't a homogenously bright capable group of people who get MSDN or Technet subscriptions for a variety of constructive, productive reasons. And hey FYI Kevin the Pan aka the Redmond Cop Wannabe has one type of MSDN subscription so need we say more? All this crap that is false about dedication is mind blowing in it's disingenous hypocrisy. Less than 5% of anyone on the TBT participated to any extent in any of those things that Wendy J. Stidmon, Anna "B" Benesovska, Tenny Cho, Christina Hughes, Sam White, or Paul Donnelly proferred on the Beta groups to encourage feedback that fell on very tin ears. So I'd take issue with your and other people's portrayal that all of these 30,000 beta testers or a percent above 5% were heavily involved in hard work or inconvenience. | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the produc Micro$oft owes every person who turned in a bug report a complementry copy of VI$TA. OH, I could get VI$TA now, an MSDN subscription fee is $699.00, minimum package, going up to $1,000. If I go to Micro$oft Technet it is $349.00 for a basic subscription, but Technet releases Beta software only, so VI$TA RTM isn't an option. I would Just buy it from Microsoft, but the LOSERS missed out on the Christmas buying season! C'mon guys, you had 6 years to develop this thing! How unfair and pathetic to miss out on the buying season with a new OS. LOSERS! So, instead of just selling the RTM online, VIA a download, they make everyone wait until almost February to get it, January 30th. The company is clearly being mismanaged. So technet subscribers, probably because Micro$oft felt sorry for them, gave them a copy. I mean, after all they DID pay to BEta test the stuff. Me, I was invited VIA multiple e-mails to test RC1 and RC2. I refuse to pay Micro$oft to beta test their ****. I am a wee bit smarter than that. | Re: Comp USA selling Vista and Office in 12 Days Actually, Jon as far as the wait, Comp USA is going to begin selling it in 12 days on the 30th of this month if you're interested in buying it. Mr. Branigan who should have known and works for MSFT was unaware of this. I believe they won't be selling Ultimate, but you can check on the link--it seems they'll be selling Vista Business and Office 2007 SB. www.betanews.com/article/CompUSA_to_Sell_Vista_November_30/1163457246 I wouldn't waste a helluva lot of time crying about what MSFT does or doesn't do or what they give away. We'll grant you that a lot of people in the CPP worked just as hard, are just as worthy, that despite the nebulous criteria Branigan offers, selection may not be fair just as it wasn't for Queen Victoria and her hemophelia gene. What Branigan, who has offered critieria for Beta selection didn't say was that people who have been on previous Betas have an edge torward getting on the two most people want --Office or the OS that comes out around every 5-6 years. He doesn't offer what you do to crash this congenital disposition to get on the OS beta. One guy sent Paul Donnelly chocolate, and as far as I can tell, Donnelly has a sweet tooth and likes cars. Just pick out the stuff you like and boost your learning curves. I wouldn't let MSFT get you down. Just take from it what makes you happy learning wise. | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the produc After reading so many posts, can't help to make the following comments: Only morons would pay subscription fees for beta testing software, and in the mean time, feeling somewhat prestigious about it. Only one word - idiot. A free copy? Only in your dream! They know very well that a bunch of morons are lining up for paying them to test the software, with the risk of of ruing own systems, do you think they care about you and will give you a free copy? Do you think they'd even appreciate YOUR efforts? Can you be even more naive? The only reason I downloaded and tested software is to see if it's worth our money. You and other morons who are willing to spend money already spoiled the company and now are demanding them to respect you? LOL. If you and others are smart enough, you should be waiting for them to beg you to download trial software! Act like a consumer and stop being like a slave! | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the produc I really try hard to stay positive. I submitted just under a dozen bug reports to Microsoft when I Beta tested Vista. THEY are the ones that came forward and offered a FREE copy. I believe they will do the right thing, and award a copy to me. If they do not, oh well. I had to take abuse in here from nerdy Technet subscribers who moaned and wailed that their beta testing was far better than anyone elses! And therefore, only they deserved a free copy! What a bunch of Baloney! Technet subscribers have not worked any harder than ME I assure you. I have been dedicated. I believed in VISTA when no one else did. I have installed and uninstalled VISTA dozens and dozens of times, spent countless hours installing programs, testing it. I KNOW this product. The only difference between me and a technet subcriber is that I chose Not to pay for my Beta. I was asked VIA e-mail by Microsoft on multiple occasions to test the Customer preveiw program. If anyone from Microsoft reads this, it would restore my faith in Microsoft if they were to do the right thing and award me a copy. My e-mail address is Jon@theacords.biz. If you check, you will know that I submitted many many bugs. Thank you. | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the produc Jon-- LOL I hope that you get Vista in a comfortable way for you. If you want it that badly, it is ridiculous for you to waste time in your life yelling at the sky you don't have it. I understand enough about OBGYN to know the stork is not likely to drop it into your yard. In the US it starts selling in stores in eleven days at Comp USA (at least one of its versions as does a version of Office 2007 as I've linked for you. If MSFT won't give it to you, (and I understand they are a company that is on the NYSE with shareholders who expect that they make a profit, although they were slow and stubborn in realizing that they were ignoring a huge profit center of Web ads for years, and you want it badly, then you have a couple choices. You can download the Beta they have available now that will last you until June 2007 which should give you time to set aside the money for the version that best suits your needs or you can buy it in a US store in eleven days or many of the web outlets that will spring up soon. | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the produc Chris: If you mean I chose not to pay a subscription FEE to test Microsoft's products, then yes, I did not test it that way. But I was a Beta tester. I have downloaded alpha and beta copies since it was called longhorn, so don't come in here with a smug, nerdy attitude. Its been my observation that all the pathetic technet subscribers as well as MSDN people have an attitude like they are better than anyone else. They have been snooty, and just plain annoying. See, I DID alpha and beta test at microsoft's request, so just shut up! Unlike those other aforementioned LOSERS I never had to pay for it! *smile*.
