Re: a workaround with activation step by step (in English)

this trick is making the round all over the world.

it is working perfectly in all ways, no matter what vista edition one has
running.

of course this only is working until summer, but anyway.

"viper" from the winbeta irc crew, the guy that leaked the x64 Version of RTM
to public and made the x86x64_rtm_winbeta-all_in_one_dvd.iso is also working
on ways of disabling spp protection all and forever.

As he is working at msft and knows some interna about vista I am sure he
will do.

Also there is a workaround to replace four specific files and reregistering
two of them again from Build 5728 in rtm as this build has a more crackable
wpa/wga combination.

Funny thing is that hints how to solve the activation at all come from
people that work at msft.

All those that are now crying "piracy" - msft should have done better and
release rtm to all folks, not only for "choosen stuff" aka enterprise, msdn
etc.
What's wrong to offer a pay per download. Not everone has needs for physical
media and shiny retail boxes at all .
And rethink the price-policy for vista than I am sure, there would not be
this problem at all or in fact, not so much as it is by now.

Take realistic 50 USD per HomeEdition Basic and all would be ok.

prices and release policies as by now will make vista and cracks the most
downlaoded files in the world. Realistic.

Btw : Vista rtm ROCKS in performance and reliability, RCs are lame compared
to it..

I would agree with this part, if Microsoft does want to seriously combat
piracy, sell direct without shiny boxes and pressed media and fat-cat
middlemen, pass ALL the savings onto the consumer.

Nobody wants to fight WGA, if Vista direct-download was priced realisticly
so MS made a reasonable price, and the tech savvy consumer saved a wedge,
they would simply buy it, and not bother with the risk and hassle of dodgy
cracks..

This has been my major gripe with MS, Vista is highly priced, but MS get a
pittance for it, as 4 levels of distributuion have to cream off the
profits... Sell direct.. Combat piracy...

you mean that Vista's NEW Technology in software protection has been sucessfully cracked even before it's official release date?

i've read another Chinese thread that people are working on how to stop the clock inside Vista from working, so that "times up" or "re-activation" never happened.

is Viper from Microsoft (Russia)? I know that some people who worked in Microsoft (China) do exactly the same thing, get the Volume License edition of Chinese Office 2007 to the public secretly. Publish internal confidential emails over the Internet. helping others in ways to workaround with WGA, SPP, VLK etc...
have you seen the movie "The Departed" ?

Here is the guy to look for that caused all the mess

>you mean that Vista's NEW Technology in software >protection has been sucessfully cracked even >before it's official release date?
Not a crack. It's just turning the rtm into evaluation period like the rc's all.
The rtms will also no longer function after June 2007.

As long as Windows itself thereafter goes online and activates succesfully as "genuine" it is not a crack and I think it is in a way even legit if this works.

A crack would avoid activation total or disable the Software Licensing files / replace with dummie-files and would never contact the activation servers.

Yes, that is what I am also reading.

I don't know where he is but that this is the guy that did leak all the rtm builds out to public and mastered the isos. He explained how he smuggled the files out of msft company many times in the irc channel.

Talk to him at #winbeta ( irc.winbeta.org ) - and ask him.He's often there.
MSFT piracy department might be interested. So have your chat.also they do serve the iso "hidden" in the other channel ( known to those interested - I will not name it here )

More I wont say. I just want to make clear that I am not interested in piracy and in fact do own copies of Windows XP and aerlier that I have paid real $$$ for - so will it be with Vista.

In fact I already have preordered HomePremium via the Express Upgrade option, so don't worry, I am no warez kid.

I am using the rtm in the exact edition I have paid for as trial until my package will arrive in the next two months or so. that is in no way piracy, as I will then activate it with my own key then.

All I said is that the trick to actiavte as eval is true and working, and that other ways are figured out by those that really want to steal the product.

But I see with interest all the attempts to crack and hack spp.
As I personally believe spp is going to be the horror for legit customers if the mechanism will fail, I will keep an eye on the cat & mice play just to stay informed what's going on behind the nice new windows.

So. By now no more statements to "cracking" the rtm.

MS Antipiracy : here is your info who is to blame for the leak, the rest is known and said.

Re: Here is the guy to look for that caused all the mess

It's only the same thing where someone replaces two files in Vista with two
from RC1 or RC2 and it lets you use the RC1/2 product key to activate it.
Then it will cease to work on 1/6/07.
