Vista *does have very detailed Explorer organization

(including Show in Groups in more ways than XP)

I long complained that I didn't understand why the Vista shell team or
whatever non-intuitvely named group (usually they are named like a Seahawks
double reverse play) made the organization of Windows Explorer didn't retain
a feature I find very useful in XP View>Arrange Icons by>Show in
Groups/Name/Modified/Size but in fact they do. However it isn't as easy a
gui to the eye. In XP it looks like the index of a book and it is sometimes
very helpful for those downloads that seemed to wander into some other file
or folder ocassionally or unzip into harder to locate places.

I missed it because of its location in Vista all these builds unless it was
added in some build later (I"d like to find out the answer to that if anyone
knows) or it has always been there and I jsut missed it. Maybe if you
haven't used it it will be useful to you.

Use View at first not Views but use Views later>Expand in Groups>Details and
select details then you can use View>Sort by>Group by. I haven't seen any
articles on MSFT's web site on this in detail yet, but there probably will
be. Clicking every one of these options and tweaking them could pay off for
you organization wize so if you haven't take a look. Make sure you also ck
out the expanded list of Details (there must be 50 or so of these categories
and they are pretty extensive) that you can impose on the folder to
categorize.

Open any folder and you can click by name, date modified, size, folder path
and every option in Show Only, Organize, Advanced, Tags. You can also group
several ways and show the file path when you mouseover and even get a list
of email addresses from the newsgroup you're in.

Also notice that you can use a View>Go to item on the view menu.

If you haven't checked out the options in Explorer folders you should give
them a shot.

I've customized Explorer this way in the past versions, I think since
Beta2.
