| RE: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 Look on the bright side M8, windows XP and I.E.6 and Media Player 10 work great, at least we wont have to splash out on the awful new OS and add ons etc. "John Jay Smith" wrote: > be warned! lol another horrible gui release... > > what is ms thinking? the are on self destruct mode? > > this is not a surprise to me.. since I have beta tested it... > > http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...1/default.aspx > > > |

| RE: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 Great, I love the new IE7 and WM11 layout, as well as Vista. I don't care as much for Word 2007 but I'm getting used to it. | Re: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 That's a great thing, considering Vista looks great with IE 7 and WMP 11. Things just keep getting better and better. With WMP 11 and WM Audio Pro, my WMA's have never sounded better. Not to mention the really good library features of WMP 11 and its very tight integration with both my mobile audio devices (Creative Labs Zen and another device that is coming soon). IE 7 is great, the layout is intelligent and "goes with the flow". All the items for daily browsing are right where I need them to be, tabs are great, the security provided over IE 6 (and it seems even Firefox currently) are well worth it for me and my office. All in all RC 2 for Vista has been great for me. Bill F. | Re: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 Of course I am OK. How can I say those things? Because they are true. I find using a Vista box a lot easier on the eyes and my routine than XP was. I don't even use XP at all anymore. No reason to. If I really wanted to, I suppose I could stick it on a VM running under VirtualPC 2007. I don't see any advantage WMP 10 or IE 6 have over WMP 11 or IE 7, but I see plenty the other way around. It's not a joke at all, its the truth. Just because you are stuck in the past doesn't mean the rest of us have to stay there. Do you still enjoy your Betamax? Or maybe that hand pump outside for fresh water? Or possibly you are still smitten with your outhouse... Bill F. In wmp10; it was setup to backup your licenses ; which lessened hassles with DRM. In wmp11; they took that function out altogether. Now, try and play ANY song that was purchased through MSFT's own MSN Music; with Vista. I dare ya. If it works for you; then you're a magician;seeing as the license servers won't synch to get licenses. In fact; this close to RTM;and still a MAJOR issue; that has yet to be resolved. LOL wmp11 functionally is inferior to wmp10 in that regard. Another thing; as a side note; the Office 2007 activation servers have been down since last Thursday;causing some people to go into "reduced functionality". Gee, wonder what's gonna happen with SPP and Vista? Jeff |

So I'm being brainwashed because I have a different opinion and preference? Wow, it's hard to crack that ironclad logic of yours "brotha." | Re: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 Jeff, This is a known bug in Vista that was reported and is being worked on (according to the Feedback site anyways). How do I know? I'm the one who originally reported the bug in the February CTP. The workaround for now has been to run WMP 11 as an administrator and install the Music Store software. Office 2007 is still in Beta. So why can't Microsoft be working on the Activation Servers? Maybe you didn't see the big letters that warn you not to install on production boxes? Bill F. | Re: wmp11 final is out with the same quality as ie7 O.K. Let's start by saying; #1- The "workaround" you are supposing works; is not the issue at all;now Bill. Run as admin isn't the issue; in fact; UAC on UAC off; Run as Admin;run regular;no difference . LOL- ya think I'm a noob about this? Let's see; Hmmm. The MSN Music store is installed properly; it downloads music just fine. In fact;every SINGLE piece of the MSN Music issue; including synching to the DRM upgrade server is in place properly now; except for synching to the license servers correctly. Would you care to see the packet analysis? The ACTUAL packets on the wire? Funny; if you had the workaround all this time; I wonder why 2nd and 3rd level techs haven't resolved this yet? I wonder why I just received an e-mail yesterday from an MSN Music tech stating; and I quote; > "Jeff, due to the complexity of this issue at hand, I need to report your concern to our Product Team for further investigation If you'd care; I'll send you the e-mail correspondence; I have received. A known bug; LOL Bill we're talking RTM now-not beta 2; or better yet 5270. I'm not here for your amusement Bill. I'm merely stating a counter-to your viewpoint of wmp11 being ALL THAT. It may well be;in the future;but functionally;as we speak; leading up to RTM; it's not correct. #2 OMG Office in beta; and don't put it on a production machine-lol-ya kill me Bill. Really? GEE I didn't know it wasn't a BETA. lol Funny about that;also. Seems Office is just about ready for RTM also. HELLO we're talking NOW Bill, not February. The Activation servers aren't Beta Bill, lol they're production machines. A 4 day service outage is NOT maintenance Bill. And; to top it off; I wasn't affected;personally. BUT people were. You think hardware will become infallible as soon as Office and Vista go gold? LOL-really;ya kill me sometimes. You've been humorous.
