Does anyone have advice to get an antivirus that works with Vista RC 1?
PC- Cillin expires October 31,06 and What is out there that I can trust? and
for that matter that you trust?

I have the same expiry date as you have. I contacted Trend who advised they
would have a new version (uninstall/install) to extend the date to Dec 2006.
I noted on this forum some have this extension date althugh Trend have still
to reply to my query about this as the file on their server looks to be the
same as I installed the other week.

I guess the one on the server atm is the new one although I would have
preferred they would confirm this as I don't want to uninstall and then
install to find the same date :(

My preference would be for another AV but I haven't had any success with AVG
all along if I keep UAC enabled.
Avast seems to work for most although back in beta2 it slowed my boot time.
Trend takes a while to load itself which AVG doesn't do the nly way I can
install AVG would be to disable UAC which I might have to otherwise it will
be another change in December providing Vista beta is still running after
that as I don't think bug reports are any use now.

AVG Works with Vista, if you'r using the 64Bit version, you'll need to get
the full version of AVG though, as the Free version dosn't support Vista 64.

Most of those Issues that you are having with RC1, have been Fixed in RC2,

I have used many of them with Vista to compare but I think that One Care
Live Team deserves praise for it's price, it's backup which is very decent,
it's 3 license EULA, it's lack of resource slurping and relative lack of
hard drive real estate occupied when compared with products of Microsoft's
friendly partner Symantec who showed the love by filing suit against MSFT in
Seattle district Court to keep MSFT VP and General Counsel and Deputy
General Counsel Nancy Anderson busy. MSFT backed down which is the usual
result of their litigation with big companies. They are bigger and badder
and braver when they go after lol an individual.Ck out the result of
litigation with MSFT and Adobe, the European Union, McAfee, Symantec, etc.

I moved from TrendMicro's PC-Cillin to Microsoft's OneCare 1.5 Beta.

It's working great thus far!

One caveat with AVAST--it did a great job for me until build 5728 and from
that build on it would not install. I found Trend worked well, and then in
view of the December expiration even after extnesion for the free trial, I
would highly recommend Win One Care Live free linked above in this thread.

Astro: do you have the thing updating automatically. It has been working
well on my RC2 (5744) for a couple weeks. I just checked mine, and it's set
to expire 12/31.

Perhaps you must upgrade to RC2 ???

Windows One Care has gotten horrible reviews for failing to detect both
viruses and spyware (it doesn't rank in the upper tier amond antivirus
products that have been tested in AV labs). I remain skeptical about
Microsoft security products.

well i am using avast ( freebie ) after asking a similar question here but I
have RC2

I am using Live OneCare beta at this point, it seems to work well. I have
also used AVG 7.5 with no problems.

I think Trend recently extended the beta period from October 31st to
December 31st.
