Application Slowness in RC2 and Audio Issue

For the most part, and from my perspective only, RC2 is leaps and bounds
beyond RC1 in terms of device support, ease of installation, and general
problems. I was up and running very quickly, it found drivers a lot better
and all things considered, I'm very pleased. I'm using Vista Ultimate RC2,
Build 5744.

However, I have a couple of small nagging issues. I run a full screen game
and I'm getting a lot of lag that I never got in XP Pro. The framerate is
very low in comparison. I run dual monitors and I'm running the game on my
primary display, 20" Dell at 1600x1200. There's a few things that could
factor into this and I'm not sure if Vista is causing the problem or not.

1.) I have XP Pro on my primary C:\.
2.) I have Vista on my G:\ (secondary hard drive, not a partition).
3.) I've tried running the game from my installed C:\Program Files...and
I've tried installing the app on my G:\ (same physical drive as Vista) and
haven't noticed much difference in performance.
4.) I'm running whatever drivers Vista found/loaded, I haven't explicitly
loaded any other drivers because they seem correct/functioning.

The only other issue I've had is with an audio app. I'm using a USB headset
and the app is configured correctly. The audio sounds fine (it's a Voip
app), UNTIL I load the full screen game. Then it gets somewhat crackly.
Closing the game solves this.

System specs:
3.2 Dual Core Pentium
2 GB Ram
nVidia geForce 6800 (256 MB)

I'm open to any suggestions on how to improve the performance. If I left
any important details out, please lemme know and I can tack them on.
Otherwise it's been relatively smooth sailing, although I disabled User
Account Control or whatever it's called and I get an annoying System Tray
message a LOT saying it's a "problem" but I can't stand it and I don't need
to worry about security that much on my LAN, as I completely control it.

Thanks for any help,
James

Re: Application Slowness in RC2 and Audio Issue

Try installing the latest vista beta drivers from NVIDA. One I installed
them, my lag disappeared and my performance score across the board sky
rocketed.

Re: Application Slowness in RC2 and Audio Issue

I have RC2 and have lag when using the RC2 drivers from NVIDIA but all is
well if I revert to the RC1 video driver. I have an EVGA 7950 GX2 videocard.

regards
Robert

Re: Application Slowness in RC2 and Audio Issue

All in all, i honestly think the lag issues is due to the video drivers.
