| Re: vista rc 1 on slave drive Your Vista boot files are on the XP drive, so with the XP drive disconnected OR the Vista drive set as first in boot priority in your BIOS, run the Vista DVD and do a startup repair. | Re: vista rc 1 on slave drive Try this Dual-booting with vista can be a little tricky to remove because of the new bootloader. Playing with dual-boot systems has killed many people's hard drives. I would suggest massive back-ups before you try to remove part of a dual- boot system. If you mess up, you might be unable to boot to any of your partitions. You do this at your own risk. Here's the basic steps you need to do: 1. Backup, backup, backup 2. Reboot and Boot to your XP CD-ROM 3. Start the Recovery Console 4. Run Fixboot 5. Run fixmbr to reset the master boot record 6. Exit the Recovery Console 7. Reboot 8. To remove the extra entry, edit the boot.ini file to remove the "Microsoft Windows Longhorn" entry. 9. Format Your Vista Partition try that http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=remove+vista&meta= Ron D =?Utf-8?B?Ym9lYnJ1bW1pZQ==?= <boebrummie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in news:3D7EB475-B8F2-4857-B11C-3A4431F083AE@microsoft.com: > it was my hardrive iv now smashed it up but av another second drive, > but now iv taken that vista drive away, and not installed other slave > drive can u tell me how i remove the vista boot thingy please, as im > gonna start again but gonna install as a prime drive and see wat > appens > > "John Barnes" wrote: > >> Your Vista boot files are on the XP drive, so with the XP drive >> disconnected OR the Vista drive set as first in boot priority in your >> BIOS, run the Vista DVD and do a startup repair. >> >> "boebrummie" <boebrummie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:E4E6032A-D8E2-47DC-A77E-492AEEE7B036@microsoft.com... >> >i installed rc1 on second drive as slave, but when i reboot, its as >> >if both >> > drives are booting together and causeing probs, and if i take my >> > xp drive out and have vista drive as prime it says somethin aboiut >> > cannot find boot blar blar blar any ideas, >> > thanks jd >> >> >> > |
