Please fix Boot Manager refresh rate before public release.

I have a Gateway DL31-1 monitor. My monitor supports
640x480 at 60, 70 and 72 HZ (in all color modes) and 800x600 at 60 HZ only
(in all color modes). On vista boot-up I cannot see the Boot manager with
the OS
choices on RC1 and RC2 (scrambled video). Boot manager is there because if I
press the down arrow and then enter, I boot to my previous OS (XP). I assume
it uses a higher refresh rate
than my monitor can handle or possibly a higher resolution. I can see the
green bars after boot manager exits and the rest of the boot process
(possibly changing refresh rates?). If the NO GUI BOOT option is checked, I
cannot see anything until my desktop pops up. I guess it uses the same
refresh rate or resolution as boot manager. I've looked in bcedit and can't
seem to find a way to fix this. Any ideas? I don't want Vista to ruin my
monitor. This is something that needs to be fixed before public release.

RE: Please fix Boot Manager refresh rate before public release.

I faced the same problem even I installed the public release. Nothing could
be displayed in the Boot Manager with an error message from my monitor. It
was about the refresh rate "out of range" problem, indicating the screen
display required 87 Hz for vertical while the monitor only supported 55-78 Hz.

Has any update already been released which can solve this problem, or has
anyone got any alternative solutions?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Please fix Boot Manager refresh rate before public release.

We have the same issue with Vista final using a LCD. The workaround we can
find is to use an old 14" monitor during the bootup process! Any fix on this
annoying issue?

Re: Please fix Boot Manager refresh rate before public release.

Maybe I should elborate a bit more. We use a "low-end" 15" Polyview (but only
around 2 years old) LCD. It seems that Vista boot manager fails to detect the
supported LCD frequency correctly.

Maybe the LCD inplementation is non-standard which causes this problem, but
I think Vista should have be a bit more receptive to different hardware.
