Finally

I have been using Vista since Beta 2, and have had dozens of problems. But I
knew that it was a beta program, so I stayed pretty optomistic about it. A
dozen re-loads, switching from X86, to X64, to XP, back and forth to figure
out how to make everything work correctly.
I dealt with eht e video card issues, printer issues, sound issues, this
driver not working, that driver not working, and the bugs - o - plenty.
I had gotten to the point a couple weeks ago that I was ready to give up the
goat and just load XP on my system and keep it there until the Vista release.
2 days ago, however, I had a wild hair and decided to give it one more try.
Knowing that I have done this many times before, I had some new ideas for the
fresh load. Not so much on the load itself, because that is pretty much set,
but in the order I loaded everything afterwards.
Load windows, then the updated drivers, then FFDshow, AVAST, other important
programs, then start setting up the computer the way I want it.
Finally, it seems I got everything to work. Everything seems to have meshed
everything seems to have connected correctly. I haqve been able to get my
sharing to work on my Vista machine, Xvid and DivX have started working in
MCE, nothing locks, nothing hangs, heck my PVR finally works with Vista.
Now, I am not sure what exactly I did right this time that I did wrong on
the other times, but something went right.
So, I guess the point of this comment is simple.
It is new, there will be issues you will have, but keep with it, learn from
the issues, and who knows, you may get it figured out.

Hope this helps

RE: Finally

I guess it all goes to show they weren't "bugs" in the first place. People
are always quick to yell "bug" when they can't get something to work when
most often it's not a "bug" at all. This is especially true, it seems, with
anything under the Microsoft label.

For what it's worth I've been running RC2 on my Toshiba Satellite P20 laptop
without a serious hitch that I can, for sure, blame on being a "bug" in Vista.

Re: Finally

I too am very happy with RC1, with these annoying things (might or might not
be bugs)

1) Hotkeys for Shortcuts work for a while, then stop working.
2) www.morgankeegan.com won't come up and Money won't connect to MK online
services either.
3) Firewall in WLOC Beta 1.5 won't allow automatic updates to function (OK,
this is a WLOC problem)
4) Cleanmgr.exe will crash if I try to clean the C: drive; works on the
other drives.

Otherwise, I have had no trouble. If anyone has ideas about the foregoing,
please post them. I don't have RC2 or I would install it.
