Executable files problem

I have downloaded various programs and some of them just will not run. One
case in particular is an installer of a game called "Bots" by Acclaim - I
have saved it to the desktop. When I double click, vista shows the circular
loading icon for about 1 second, then it disappears.

I'm not prompted with any more dialog boxes, as I have disabled protection.
I've also tried running it under all compatibility settings. What now?

Re: Executable files problem

Hi,

Right click the setup icon, choose 'run as administrator'.

Re: Executable files problem

The next logical step, as you know, is to contact the software publisher and
see whether or not they are testing their app (or its installer) in Vista.
The fact that MS claims "most" programs will run means statistically more
than not. The Vista developers can not account to the consumer for a crappy
installer that seemed to run fine under XP but crappy under Vista. Look
under the app's hood and see if it's clean.
