Voice Recognition - Custom Commands?

Simply put, is there a way to define custom commands to speech commands that
you define? For instance, i want to say 'computer' and i want it to respond
with a beeping noise. like star trek. Then i want to say something like 'take
me to the internet' and it will open up a browser window. basically, i want
to be able to define simple macros to commands that i define. Anyone know how
with the vista speech recognition?

You can probably make something using the Speech Engine SDK available
from Microsoft.

Alternatively, just to get an application to respond to any word
and respond with a keyboard combination, which you can assign in some
other application to perform the actions you want; try Shoot v1.6

Re: Voice Recognition - Custom Commands?

There must be a third party software that does this. Search on the internet.

But I rather Computer be a real pain instead tho. I would say, Computer!,
and it would respond "What?!". Then I would say, take me to the Internet.
But I have to exclaim three times befor it'll do it. Just kidding.

RE: Voice Recognition - Custom Commands?

With the vista speech recognition? dunno.

But, for a price, it's easy; get dragon naturallyspeaking pro

with built-in voice-generated macro simplicity, and add the knowbrainer macro
set to make it even easier

But the combo will set u back about $800 bucks. i've been using both for
years - very happy with the results. but now looking fwd to seeing what
Vista can do for free. :) Which, as i understand it, is much less
customizing (by design) than Dragon, since it's targeting a mainstream
audience, not voice recog power users. ric
