Dangers of occular diabetes fom Vista

Vista is so full of totally unnecessary eye-candy and fat that any user is
in grave danger of developing ocular diabetes.

One can see that the tendency to enlarge portions in Burger King and
MacDonald's products has been adopted in full by Microsoft too.

Using MacDonald's or Burger King makes a fat ass.

Using Vista would make one a fat ass too.

Microsoft takes the cake for coming up with this bloated OS. Might very well
be its Titanic.

:-)

PS: With apologies to MacDonald's and Burger King.

Re: Dangers of occular diabetes fom Vista

I was thinking along the same lines but so is Apple's new OS X Leopard
(really just a copy of Unix with some paint on top). Just eye candy with
some new features that should have been there in the first place.

WTF is "occular (sic) diabetes"? I have "diabetes mellitus". My
second wife has "diabetes mellitus". My mother had "diabetes
mellitus", and eventually died of complications of "diabetes
mellitus". But I've never heard of "occular (sic) diabetes".

I do know that "diabetes mellitus" eventually affects the eyes of
those suffering from it (by causing the small capillaries in the
retina to burst), but it certainly is not a "disease" called "occular
(sic) diabetes".

In fact, the "ocular" (correct spelling) effects of "diabetes
mellitus" are caused by blood sugar which is too high over a long
period of time, not by viewing a computer screen.

By the way, McDonald's or Burger King products do not cause a "fat
ass" in me. Wonder why it causes it in you? Perhaps because you eat
TOO MANY of them, and don't exercise? I'm sure that eating too much
of any food will cause a "fat ass" in almost anyone.

Using any particular OS can never do that, since it never enters your
blood stream.

Making stupid remarks in addition to eating too much food will ALWAYS
cause one to become a "fat ass", as well as gain a "fat ass".

But it will NEVER cause "occular (sic) diabetes", which is a
non-existent disease.

Ahhh, I still remember the joy of having RISC-OS running in two 1MB ROM's.
Not much has changed in the looks with the new OS'es, but the burden on the
system is tremendous. No need to get the latest of the latest though if the
old thing still does it's job ;-)

You're kidding, right? Just in case you're not, here's the definition:
Ocular Diabetes is a play on words. Having many visual features
is called eye candy. Too much eye candy gives your eyes Ocular
Diabetes the same way as too much real candy can give you
Type 2 Diabetes. It's a common phrase in the computer world.
As for joking about a serious disease, why not? My eight
great-grandparents, four grandparents, mother and father all
died before age thirty four. I'm now fifty one. I joke about
death just to spit in its eye (which I hope to give Ocular Diabetes!)

You are just some kind of nut right?
What's wrong with making it look good.
Hardware is so inexpensive that I just can't understand what your problem
is.
If you don't like it stick to DOS or even something more privitive like the
31 flavors of Linux.

RE: Dangers of occular diabetes fom Vista

I agree with Bob. Call it too much eye candy if you want. There is no reason
an operating system can't be as visually appealing as it is functional. I
mean, heck, I am amazed every day when I sit in front of my computer, with
the new look. So much so that I bought myself a new, up to date computer,
with a 19" wide screen for it. (At first, I was running an notebook from 3
years ago).
the new system looks sweet, and though others may disagree, as far as I can
see, runs better than XP.
But hey, if it is "too pretty" for you, I can e-mail you DOS. It may just be
ugly enough to fit your tastes. :-)

Hope this helps..

I applaud microsoft for doing such a bad OS.

My clients will increase 10 fold pleading for help.

Multiple core computers will become dirt cheap...

in general it will boost the IT economy.... because its such a bad product!
Hurray! Lets hope the next OS will be even worse!

RE: Dangers of occular diabetes fom Vista

I agree 100% with you and Bob.

I have never been able to grasp the concept of continually using something
that is completely voluntary then moaning and groaning about using it. If I
do not like McDonald's why would I keep purchasing their product so I could
complain about it. This seems to be a little kinky to me - in the realm of
S/M. Or like the guy that was asked "Why do you keep hitting yourself in the
head with a hammer?" to which he responded "Because it feels so good when I
stop". It would seem more productive to watch the grass grow than to use
something that is completely voluntary in order to complain about it.
Somewhere I heard the expression "Get a life". I wonder if that would be
applicable or not in this situation.

If I did not like Vista, I would simply un-install it (I would think I would
know how to do this since I had installed it) and re-install whatever suited
my tastes.

How is your redefinition of diabetes mellitus a "play on words?" What
"play" are you making?

Now, "eye candy" is a play on words, but "occular diabetes" is not
playiing with anything. It is actaully a redefinition of diabetes
mellitus.

In the first place, diabetes mellitus is not caused by "eating too
much candy". That is a fairy tale used to scare children into not
eating a lot of candy.

The modern theory is that diabetes mellitus is caused by a virus, not
by eating too much candy.
[color=blue]

Again, eating too much candy is not a cause of ANY type of diabetes.
[color=blue]

As to whether "eye candy" or "occular diabetes" are common phrases
anywhere is in your own imagination. "Eye Candy" is NEVER used by
people who LIKE extra visual effects in their OS, it is used ONLY by
people who hate Microsoft. And I had never read the phrase "Occular
diabetes" in my entire life, until I read the OP's post.
[color=blue]

The effects diabetes mellitus can have on one who suffers from the
disease may seem funny to you, sir, but I assure you, they are not
funny to a man or woman who has gone blind as a result of blood sugar
out of control.

Spit in the eye of Death when you meet him, and you will show the
world something substantial.

Your jokes are not received well by those with diabetes mellitus.
