1. I started with RC1 installed and working great.

2. I tried to install by running setup.exe from the DVD that I had burnt
from my MSDN RC2 October bits. Got an 80000004 error. NP there can't expect
perfection.

3. I booted from the DVD, selected complete install, and the early install
went fine. Clicked the KVM over to another box to play free cell. When I got
back I had a completely BLACK screen. This is NOT the screen the display
gives when it has no signal. Saw no disk activity, powered down the box and
restarted. The install restarted just fine. Repeated this several times.

4. Vista is now up and running fine with one exception: Restart gives the
same BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH!

Check device manager. Everything is installed ok.

The OS is 32 bit Vista Ultimate RC2.

The box is admittedly home brew and I would have to go searching for the
details on the mother board. The cpu is AMD Athallon 64 3000+. With a gig of
memory. The box functioned fine as my SBS 2003 server until I retired it.


MS LURKERS: YOU SIMPLY CANNOT RELEASE RC2 TO PRODUCTION WITH SUCH A PROBLEM
IN PLACE. The grief this would cause typical users would eat up a lot of
support time:-(

Suggestions please for other things to check and to do.
