| Vista to be included in MS Partner Action Pack? Just a thought - will Vista (the final market release version) be included in the MS Action Pack content updates for Partner Subscribers sometime in the first half of 2007? The first public Betas for Vista as well as Office 2007 were included in the July consignment. Regards and thanks. Tachyon |

| Re: Vista to be included in MS Partner Action Pack? I am absolutely certain that it will be. Question is, which version(s) of Vista. I would think (and wish!) they would include the Ultimate edition as that was the edition of the beta they shipped with the July update! :-) Tachyon ---------- |

| Re: Vista to be included in MS Partner Action Pack? WRONG, and this type of misinformation is the same that has encouraged many users to buy Windows XP Pro thinking they would improve performance or stability. All versions have their purpose and markets and there is no need for someone to waste their $ on a version that has features they will never need. Ultimate is to much for many users and they will be better off with another version. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Terje Alexander Barth" <instant0.gmail.com> wrote in message news:uOkm1tu7GHA.4288@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > I would guess it will be the Ultimate Edition since all the other versions > are ... crap for lack of a better word. :-) > > trivia: > "Tachyon, The Fringe", Good game with Bruce Campbell. |

Here is a breakdown of the different versions: - http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_editions.asp Now tell me in what way Windows Vista Starter Edition is better than Windows Vista Ultimate. For the Action Pack I guess the Business or Small Business Editions will work as well although the lack of MUI might be a loss. Here is more on why my original view on the other versions was 'crap': - They contain less features than the Ultimate version. Make a note that nowhere do I state that Ultimate will perform better than the other versions, more likely it will perform worse since it has a lot more stuff installed :-) -- --- ///Terje Alexander Barth \\\/// |

| Re: Vista to be included in MS Partner Action Pack? All the Vista versions have their advantages and none are universally "better". "Now tell me in what way Windows Vista Starter Edition is better than Windows Vista Ultimate." The fact you even asked this question shows you miss or ignore some of the basics. "less features" is not always bad especially when those features are not needed. The Starter version can and probably is a far better option for many similarly other versions will better meet the needs of the informed buyer than Ultimate. Clearly Ultimate is not the best for everyone. Have you considered price? Many have no need for the extra features and thus have no need to spend the $ for Ultimate when other versions will meet the needs. An informed buyer will not miss the missing features since they will not be needed anyways, but they will keep some of their $. Your "personal view" seems to be flawed since it seems to ignore price and features gained by the added , many of which unneeded by most. Perhaps the statement would have been more accurate if you had placed "for me" in the sentence -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Terje Alexander Barth" <instant0.gmail.com> wrote in message news:454951BE-FBCF-4804-BF25-4A4AD566E042@microsoft.com... > How can it be misinformation when it is a statement expressing a personal > view on the subject. > > Here is a breakdown of the different versions: > - http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_editions.asp > > Now tell me in what way Windows Vista Starter Edition is better than > Windows Vista Ultimate. > > For the Action Pack I guess the Business or Small Business Editions will > work as well > although the lack of MUI might be a loss. > > > Here is more on why my original view on the other versions was 'crap': > - They contain less features than the Ultimate version. > > Make a note that nowhere do I state that Ultimate will perform better > than the other versions, more likely it will perform worse since it > has a lot more stuff installed :-) > > > -- > --- > ///Terje Alexander Barth \\\/// |

Although it DOES come at a higher cost. So we are just arguing what we mean when we say something is "Better". You might say "The better product is the one that meets the customers current demands at the lowest price" whereas someone else might say "the better product is the one with the most features". The best choice does not have to be the better product. :-) >"Jupiter Jones [MVP]" <jones_jupiter@hotnomail.com> wrote >>"Now tell me in what way Windows Vista Starter Edition is better than >>Windows Vista Ultimate." >The fact you even asked this question shows you miss or ignore some of the >basics. I should have added somewhere in that sentence; "for you". Since I am making the statement, obviously it is for me and there should be no need to add "for me" to any statements *I* make. If I decided to sign with a professional title or other "credit" it might be appropriate to add "for me", "based on my experience", "After 7 years of testing I have come to the conclusion that... | Re: Vista to be included in MS Partner Action Pack? Ok. After extensive research I have now concluded this: 1. We are Registered Microsoft Partners and subscribe to Action Pack 2. Received latest AP update and it included Vista R2 and Office 2007 R2 3. After Installing both Vista and Office 2007 found numerous BUGS like cannot save or open files. 4. Suggested in this forum that Vista R1 would correct this 5. But R1 is not available for download unless you are a MSDN or Technet Subscriber. 6. So Microsoft includes Vist R2 and Office 2007 R2 with Action Pack but no R1 before its release? What was the point shipping both Vista R2 and Office 2007 R2 together with Action Pack if it was discovered that together without R1 they are WORTHLESS. In addition to this Office 2007 were missing their respective Key Codes for Action Pack (used the beta download key). This is extremely Frustrating and has caused a serious waste of Company Time. -- Kokkos Industries, Inc.
