Where does The Akami Download Manager Put the File?

I downloaded the RC-2 but as usual, it was placed in a folder that I am
unable to locate.

It was like:
C:/windows/c/temporaryinternet/

Can someone please get me the correct folder location?
This has to be the most inconvenient system on Vista.
I believe it a "Sandbox" folder...I have heard it rfeferred to as something
similar and this happens quite often with the Beta downloads.

It's vista protecting you, it hides the download,
try a search for iso and see if you can find it, when I download I choose to
open the folder when it asks, then copy and paste where I can find it with
the burning software.

C:\Users\You\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized

If you show hidden files, you can get to Temp Internet files, but you have
to add Virtualized yourself. Or just paste the above into an address bar
and change "You" to whatever you need.

Re: Where does The Akami Download Manager Put the File?

Gary--

At least on XP--

It's like any download dialogue box, and you might have missed that you can
browse and direct it wherever you like.

I read Clark's post with interest, and possibly Vista has a diffrerent way
of dealing with Akami, but as to the hundreds of downloads I've seen on
Vista builds, including those from the MSFT FTP servers there didn't seem to
be any significant difference except that Vista has the term users in its
file path instead of Documents and Settings.

Akami will put the file wherever you tell it to if you do. If you have
trouble finding it, and didn't send to a target folder of your choice, just
do a search for .iso or vista 5744.

Additionally you can have your drive folder arrange files by View>Show in
Groups if you're on XP >arrange by size or in Vista arrange by Size.

Also a very useful free download that can find files very fast and in
considerable detail even when you have thousands upon thousands is one
called Dx Hog Hunt--and it quickly can arrange by size.

Re: Where does The Akami Download Manager Put the File?

Thanks Clark...that is exactly what I was looking for.

I don't understand why Vista finds it necessary to hide your downloads.

Re: Where does The Akami Download Manager Put the File?

It's not Vista - it's the download manager. Have used the Microsoft Download
Manager with no problems.

Re: Where does The Akami Download Manager Put the File?

Actually, it's that Protected Mode in IE that hides the downloads ;) IE
Protected Mode 'sandboxes' downloaded programs for your own protection.

Internet Options > Advanced tab > security section, uncheck "Check for
signatures on downloaded programs". Downloads should then go to where you
want them to. Or turn off Protected Mode.

Jane, not plain ;) 64 bit enabled :)
