Right-click item on start menu = explorer crash

Hi all,
many times when trying to right-click on a shortcut from the start menu
explorer crashes. Some items are ok while some crash. On the notebook I'm
using now SPSS, Cute FTP, Nokia PC Suite all crash, while all Wordperfect
office apps & MS Office Apps are fine.

This behaviour appears on two comps running Vista - A desktop running
ultimate and a notebook running Business.

For example, if I'd like to right-click Nokia PC Suite from the start menu
and then /Send To/desktop (create shortcut), as soon as I right-click the
Nokia icon explorer crashes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mick

Re: Right-click item on start menu = explorer crash

The problem could very well be Nokia PC Suite. When I installed it
(yes,
the version for Vista) it messed up my system, my tablet (Wacom)
drivers
wouldn't work (closed by DEP) and my system kept crashing with a 0x4E
BSoD. I couldn't even uninstall PC Suite because the uninstaller was
damaged. After a system restore everything works fine again.

Re: Right-click item on start menu = explorer crash

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion but Nokia PC Suite is only
installed on my
notebook. The problem has existed since a clean install on
my desktop
and on a brand new laptop. Initially I thought it may be
something to do
with security settings for the folders the shortcuts are
filed in. e.g.,
C:\Documents and Settings\Mick\Start Menu\Programs
\Accessories.

Since then I've made sure I have full access to all the
start menu stuff
but the problem still exists on both PC's. It's got me
baffled.

Thanks

Mick
