Extended desktop problem

Hi

I'm having major difficulties in getting my vista business laptop to
run correctly with my acer 1916w monitor (17" widescreen). I want to
use the acer as the main dispay and the laptop as the secondary one,
and i've configured vista to do just that. It works fine, except that
the dispay on the acer monitor is wrong, in that if i maximise a
window then the window stretches beyond the edge of the screen, so
that the right hand side of the window cannot be seen, only about 1cm
of it, so that i can barely see the edge of the close button. the
taskbar is fine, i can see all icons in that, and the display on the
laptop is fine too.

here are the settings (using the intel graphics media to control the
settings):

monitor 1 - acer 1916w
color - 3bit
screen resolution - 1440 x 900
refresh rate - 60 hertz
Aspect ration options - full screen (no border)

monitor 2 - hp 15" widescreen laptop screen
screen resolution - 1680 x 1050
rresh rate - 60 hertz
Aspect ration options - full screen (no border)

i've tried playing around with the settings but it's no use, i'm still
missing that 1cm to the right of the screen when i maximise a window
in the acer monitor. Also, i don't know if it's my imagination, but
the desktop icons and other icons and toolbars look lot bigger on the
acer monitor than they did when i ran the monitor off an xp machine.
Is it possible to change the size of toolbars and icons on the monitor
without changing it on the laptop screen?

Thanks.

Re: Extended desktop problem

Hi there,

Have you tried adjusting the monitors viewable settings and shrink the
horizontal and then move it to the right position that you want?

Just a thought.

Cheers
Craig

Re: Extended desktop problem

Hi Craig

My monitor allows me to change the position of the screen, so i can
move the screen around, but not shrink the screen so that it fits
horizontally.

THanks
