URL:LDAP protocol - Technology Questions

URL:LDAP protocol

Is there a way I can add another program to the "Default Programs" to
handle LDAP-protocols?
Only "Windows Contacts" is indicated to handle these and that has broken
the use of LDAP-servers in my Thunderbird email client which I find
really really annoying.
I run Vista Home Premium.
