print from xp to a printer shared on vista

I have a HP LJ1220 connected to a machine running Vista 64 bit edition. I am
having trouble adding 32 bit drivers for XP to print to that printer. I have
downloaded the latest drivers, PCL 5e, PCL 6 as well as PS form HP, but vista
won't allow me to add them.

It is my understanding that Vista 64bit will only allow digitally signed
drivers to be installed, where as Vista 32bit will give you the option via
UAC to install unsigned drivers, however I might be corrected.

Nothing to correct. x64 requires signed drivers written for 64-bit. 32-bit
drivers cannot be forced. That printer is listed as compatible, he may not
be running the driver setup with elevated privileges, assuming they are the
correct version.
