BUG: in Instant Search when you rename a file with [1] in its name

I found a bug in Instant Search: when you have a file named like this
"filename[1].doc" and you rename it to filename.doc, the Instant Search
always displays the first name "filename[1].doc" in the start menu search
results, although that file has been renamed to "filename.doc" a week ago
(and so when you click on "filename[1].doc" the file is not found).

It's not a bug you UAC worshipping dumbass.
It's because, in your Start Menu settings you have not disabled 'Search
Recent Files'.

I don't have "filename[1].doc" in my Recent Files (that file has been
renamed a week ago and so it's not in my Recent Files)

Recent Files is a lot more than the Recent Items that appear in the Start
Menu. I think that just shows the last 10 or 15.

This might be the address:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Window s\Recent

But I can't be sure as as I have a fresh installation of Vista here, so I
don't have any Recent Files.

Try putting your old filename in the advanced search box and see what the
location of it is.

if I search for "filename[1].doc" I see in the search results a non existant
file "Path: filename[1].doc (C:\Users\BillD\Download\)" i.e. its location
listed in search results is C:\Users\BillD\Download
So, there's a bug in Instant Search

file filename[1].doc "Path: filename[1].doc (C:\Users\BillD\Download\)" i.e.
its location
listed in search results is C:\Users\BillD\Download
So, there's a bug in Instant Search because that file is "filename.doc" and
NOT "filename[1].doc" because I ranamed it a week ago and what Instant Search
found it's not a recently file because it's not listed in recently items and
that result has pathname C:\Users\BillD\Download\filename[1].doc.
